Manager, ESG Diligence

At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence. We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go. Join EY and help to build a better working world.

The opportunity

At EY-Parthenon, our unique combination of transformative strategy, transactions, tax and corporate finance delivers real-world value – solutions that work in practice, not just on paper. Benefiting from EY’s full spectrum of services, we’ve reimagined strategic consulting to work in a world of increasing complexity. With deep functional and sector expertise, paired with innovative AI-powered technology and an investor mindset, we partner with CEOs, boards, private equity and governments every step of the way.

Are you building your tomorrow, today? Then think about a career with our EY-Parthenon ESG team. We have a market-leading proposition to create and maximise value for our clients, whether they are acquiring or divesting assets, or looking to create value. We work on the most complex and high-profile global transactions, across a broad portfolio of clients and industry sectors.

Today, a company’s value is increasingly reflected not just in its short-term financial performance, but also in its ability to deliver value to multiple stakeholders, including consumers, employees, governments and wider society, as well as its ability to anticipate and manage climate risks. We are looking for professionals with ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) diligence and EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) experience, and / or Responsible Investments to join our successful team.

Your key responsibilities

You will provide ESG and EHS expertise to deliver sustainability due diligence and value creation projects for our private equity and corporate clients. You will assist in new business origination and support the continuous development of our sustainability services offering in Strategy and Transactions, working closely with our network of sustainability specialists across EY.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Demonstrated aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of delivering high-quality reports and presentations in short timelines
  • Adept at building strong working relationships with clients
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional team player

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Deep understanding of sustainability issues/frameworks and EHS regulations (in the UK and ideally in Continental Europe)
  • Strong analytical ability to link ESG and EHS and operational analysis to financial statements and to understand the implications for client strategy and asset valuation

Ideally, you’ll also have

We are looking for individuals from varied backgrounds, but having many of the experiences below would be advantageous:

  • Transaction experience – EHS and ESG due diligence, and/or Responsible Investment
  • A good understanding of how investors and analysts review and use ESG and EHS information to inform decision making
  • Exposure to corporate reporting and/or regulatory reporting on ESG and EHS issues
  • Experience in design and implementation of ESG-related initiatives and/or reporting either as an investor or in a corporate environment
  • Practical experience and deep understanding of the core elements of ESG and EHS, for instance:
    • Environmental compliance, assessment of environmental and ecological impacts of business operations
    • Health & safety management & compliance
    • Carbon footprint measurement, decarbonization planning, SBTi alignment
    • Climate risk assessment, mitigation and adaptation planning, TCFD reporting
    • Managing sustainability and human rights issues in supply chain
  • Professional services / consulting experience: from a management consultancy, corporate finance firm or as an 'internal consultant' in a corporate environment
  • Relevant academic and professional qualifications

What we offer you

We will fuel your ambition and potential with future-focused skills development that equips you with state-of-the-art methodologies and technology-enabled solutions. With more than 25,000 people in 150 countries, you will join an inclusive and empowering culture that values your uniqueness, prioritizes your wellbeing, and immerses you in the diverse thinking and cross-cultural experiences necessary to help deliver impact to clients across the globe and to help build a better working world.
