Job Description

Director, FinTech, Digital Assets

Do you have a strong market profile, network and track record in the digital assets and wider FinTech ecosystem? Have you led complex transformation, innovation or growth agendas in a top-tier consultancy, financial institution, FinTech, market infrastructure provider or digital assets business? Have you helped shape how emerging technologies become practical, commercially relevant propositions for financial services clients?

The opportunity

At EY, we see a significant opportunity to help shape the future of financial services by bringing together the best of FinTech innovation, deep sector knowledge, strategic relationships and transformational delivery capabilities.

Digital assets are increasingly moving from experimentation toward practical application across financial services. This is creating new opportunities — and new strategic choices — for firms across banking, capital markets, payments, wealth and asset management, and insurance. Clients are exploring how digital assets and related technologies can support new products, new operating models, enhanced infrastructure, and more efficient movement, servicing and custody of assets and money.

Against this backdrop, EY is continuing to invest in its FinTech and Digital Assets propositions. We are looking for a Director to help shape and grow our market position in this space, with a particular focus on digital assets from a product, innovation and commercialisation perspective.

You will sit within the Financial Services FinTech team, working closely with leadership across Banking & Capital Markets, Wealth & Asset Management, Insurance and Payments, as well as colleagues from strategy, risk, technology, operations, tax and regulatory teams. You will play a leading role in helping clients understand where digital assets are becoming relevant, how they translate into business value, and what it takes to execute effectively.

This is a market-facing leadership role. You will be expected to help define EY’s point of view, develop senior client relationships, originate and shape opportunities, lead complex engagements, and build a strong internal and external platform for growth.

Your key responsibilities

Your contribution will play a significant part in helping clients navigate the rapidly evolving digital assets landscape and deliver practical outcomes at scale. You will operate across the full lifecycle — from market assessment and strategic advisory through to target-state design, mobilisation and implementation — while helping to build EY’s profile and relevance in this area.

  • Originate, shape and convert new client opportunities in digital assets, with a focus on strategic relevance, commercial value and long-term account development across financial services
  • Build and deepen senior relationships across the digital assets ecosystem, including clients, FinTechs, market infrastructure providers and strategic collaborators
  • Lead strategic client conversations, proposals and go-to-market activity, helping EY identify priority accounts, market themes and differentiated growth opportunities
  • Lead complex, multidisciplinary engagements spanning strategy, risk, regulation, technology, transformation and operations, ensuring high-quality delivery and strong client outcomes
  • Advise senior client stakeholders on the strategic and practical implications of digital assets, helping them assess where the agenda is becoming relevant and how best to respond
  • Help define and evolve EY’s Digital Assets propositions, with particular emphasis on product innovation, business model change, operating model implications and emerging market infrastructure
  • Translate market developments into compelling client offerings and thought leadership, strengthening EY’s market position through clear points of view, reusable assets and commercially relevant messaging
  • Maintain a strong market perspective on the evolution of digital assets, representing EY externally through conferences, roundtables, client events and broader ecosystem engagement
  • Build, mentor and inspire high-performing teams, while strengthening EY’s internal digital assets capability through collaboration, coaching and cross-firm connectivity

Skills and attributes for success

We are looking for individuals with a combination of the following:

  • Strong experience in digital assets, ideally with exposure to areas such as tokenisation, stablecoins, digital custody, blockchain-enabled payments, market infrastructure, digital asset servicing, or broader blockchain-enabled financial products
  • A highly driven and entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to help build and scale a high-growth proposition within a large organisation
  • A strong understanding of how digital assets intersect with the priorities of financial institutions, including growth, product innovation, distribution, operating model change, infrastructure modernisation, risk management and regulatory evolution
  • Strong market credibility and the ability to engage confidently with senior executives and ecosystem participants
  • Experience leading complex transformation, innovation or strategy work within financial services, FinTech, digital assets, market infrastructure or consulting
  • The ability to translate emerging technology and market developments into clear propositions, strategic advice and commercially relevant outcomes
  • Strong leadership capability, including team development, stakeholder management and collaboration across matrixed organisations

To qualify for the role, you should ideally have

  • A strong record of accomplishment, profile and network within the digital assets and/or wider FinTech ecosystem
  • Experience delivering complex strategic, innovation or transformation work for major financial services clients
  • Experience gained in one or more of the following environments:
    • a leading consulting firm
    • a financial institution
    • a FinTech or digital assets firm
    • a market infrastructure, exchange, custody or platform business
  • Experience developing propositions, leading senior client relationships and converting market opportunities into revenue
  • A strong external presence and credibility in the market, with the potential to build a broader leadership franchise over time

What we look for

We are looking for someone who combines market credibility, commercial instinct, leadership presence and intellectual curiosity.

The ideal candidate will bring a clear point of view on where digital assets are moving from experimentation to practical adoption, and the ability to help clients respond in a way that is strategically relevant, commercially grounded and executable in practice.

You are likely to stand out if you have a strong market profile and network in digital assets and innovation and are able to connect emerging trends to real business value and client demand.
