Job Description
The Publishing Services Assistant is part of the team managing the Emerald Publishing Services (EPS), whereby Emerald publishes journals open access on behalf of institutions or societies worldwide. As Publishing Services Assistant, you’ll be a key member of the team, providing dedicated support to:
1. The Publishing Services Managers (PSMs), across a number of journals owned by external customers,
2. The Publishing Services Lead (PSL) to support the programme development.
This will involve getting involved in the management of customer leads (including a due diligence process for prospective journals) conducting customer service related tasks, such as drafting journal reports and assisting with the onboarding of new journals; helping the PSL in implementing updated or new elements of the programme; and ; deputising for team members in their absence, where possible.
In time, you may also have the opportunity to manage a small number of journals and build your publishing experience.
Day to day we’ll trust you to:
- Prepare publishing reports and update journal homepages
- Get involved in project work and cross-functional working to help to achieve department targets
- Assist the team in carrying out general administrative tasks and provide support on individual research projects as directed
- Liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders as required
You’ll need to have:
- Some relevant publishing experience gained within a commercial environment or through studies and experience in customer service
- Excellent written and interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage and influence cross-functionally
- Strong organisational and problem solving skills
- Pro-active approach in supporting the team
- A desire to learn about the publishing industry
