Trust and Safety at Depop

Keeping our community safe on Depop requires both industry-leading policies and operational processes that allow us to protect our users. The trust and safety team at Depop support our community through both direct support interactions as well as building scalable solutions to keep our users safe.

We are seeking a strategic and innovative Senior Manager of Marketplace Integrity within Trust & Safety, that is as passionate about inclusive online safety as we are. This critical role is ideal for a strategic and experienced operational leader who is eager to learn and excited by building systems to support millions of people. The role will have a significant impact on content moderation strategy and on our goal to keep our inventory safe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cultivating a deep understanding of Depop’s content policies, and developing and implementing strategies to scale enforcement and maintain Depop marketplace a safe space to shop and interact for our Community;
  • Analysing and improving the effectiveness of Depop’s existing content moderation approaches, including review of set up of moderation tools and controls with a focus on Marketplace integrity areas (IP, regulated products and product safety etc.);
  • Collaborating with Policy, Legal, Product and CX teams to spot and adapt to emerging risks and scale enforcement strategies;
  • Optimising resource allocation such that the team can adequately cover all high priority areas of work, building specialist expertise in sub-policy areas;
  • Supporting Content Moderation’s engagement with outsourcing partners, helping to ensure that workflows are operating efficiently and effectively;
  • Regularly reporting on effectiveness and KPIs of content moderation efforts as well as on progress of initiatives, providing insights to executive leadership and key collaborators.
  • Communicate feedback, challenges, roadblocks, insights effectively and concisely to appropriate audiences and stakeholders.
  • Guiding your team in effectively solving problems, removing obstacles and helping them develop as leaders.

Requirements:

  • Solid experience in Trust & Safety Operations with particular focus on content moderation
  • Strong understanding of the Online Safety regulatory landscape as well as interpret regulatory and policy requirements, and translate them into operational processes
  • Experience managing complex, sensitive and escalated cases with elevated media or legal risk
  • Track record of operational excellence, with strong data driven decision making mindset and bias for action
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain complex arguments in a straightforward manner to a variety of audiences and influence decisions
  • Strong track record of people management, with the ability to motivate and lead teams of multi-disciplinary experts

Qualifications

  • Experience working in the technology sector or other fast-paced environment, preferably in a two-sided marketplace or UGC platform
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and familiarity with trademark, copyright, and/or intermediary liability law.
