Job Description

About you

You’ll be joining Team Manul within the Infrastructure Cluster at ClearBank, supporting and evolving our Swift payments platform, which underpins critical domestic and international payment flows.

This role has been intentionally designed to balance Run the Bank (RTB) responsibility with change and improvement work, giving you exposure to both live production support and platform development. You’ll work within a small, experienced team that owns a mission‑critical payments platform, where learning, technical progression and long‑term SME development are strongly encouraged.

Importantly, this is not a Swift specialist role. While the platform uses Swift technologies, we are looking for a platform or infrastructure engineer with solid technical fundamentals who is motivated to learn the Swift domain over time. Full support, training and mentoring will be provided.

You will be

  • Supporting the day‑to‑day operation of a business‑critical payments platform, ensuring stability, resilience and availability

  • Assisting with platform changes across the full lifecycle, including build, testing, deployment and post‑change validation

  • Supporting both planned change and production incidents, contributing to investigation, resolution and clear stakeholder communication

  • Working with on‑premises and cloud‑hosted infrastructure, gaining hands‑on exposure over time

  • Learning the Swift payments ecosystem, tooling and operational requirements, with the opportunity to develop into a subject matter expert

  • Contributing to platform documentation, testing practices and continuous improvement activities

What we are looking for

  • Solid understanding of Windows Server environments

  • Exposure to Linux, ideally RHEL or similar

  • Basic cloud experience, preferably Microsoft Azure

  • Foundational networking knowledge (e.g. connectivity, routing concepts)

  • Awareness of change control in regulated or business‑critical environments

  • Understanding of testing and regression testing, and why organisations test changes before release

Desirable skills and experience, nice to have but not essential

  • Hyper‑V or other virtualisation exposure

  • Introductory scripting experience (any language)

  • Awareness of APIs and/or microservices concepts

  • Early exposure or interest in automation or AI, even at a conceptual or learning level

Our hiring process and what you can expect:

Application: a member of our talent acquisition team will review your application against the key requirements for the role and let you know within two weeks whether you’re moving forward to the next stage;

Screening: You’ll spend 30-45 minutes speaking to one of our recruiters learning more about the role and ClearBank, and we’ll get it know more about you, your experience and how your skills align with the role (this will be via phone or Teams video call). You can expect to hear back from us within seven days following this meeting (if things are taking longer than expected, we’ll let you know that too);

First Interview: You’ll spend one hour with a member of our hiring team focusing on your skills, competencies and your ways of working at the same time we’ll give you time to ask more questions about the role, the team and learn more about the ClearBank culture. This will be via Teams.

Second Interview: This will be a competency-based interview with one or more members of our team.

Final Stage: You will have a final meeting with the Head of Department. This will be around 45-60 minutes.
