
Platform Engineer - SWIFT Infrastructure
Job Description
About you
You’ll be joining Team Manul within the Infrastructure Cluster at ClearBank, supporting and evolving our SWIFT infrastructure, which underpins critical payment messaging and connectivity across the platform.
This role has been intentionally designed to balance Run the Bank (RTB) responsibility with change and improvement work, giving you exposure to both live production support and platform development. You’ll work within a small, experienced team that owns a mission‑critical financial messaging platform, where learning, technical progression and long‑term SME development are strongly encouraged.
You’ll be supported with ongoing training, mentoring, and hands-on experience across the platform.

You will be
Supporting the day‑to‑day operation of a business‑critical SWIFT platform, ensuring stability, resilience and availability
Investigating and resolving production issues relating to message flow, connectivity, and platform performance
Performing patching, upgrades and configuration changes across SWIFT applications and underlying operating systems
Supporting core SWIFT infrastructure components (e.g. SAA, SAG, SNL) and associated services where applicable
Assisting with user and access management within SWIFT environments, including virtual users and certificate-based access
Working with network connectivity and routing concepts, including VPN connectivity and external network providers
Assisting with platform changes across the full lifecycle, including build, testing, deployment and post‑change validation
Supporting both planned change and production incidents, contributing to investigation, resolution and clear stakeholder communication
Contributing to SWIFT-related projects and initiatives, including standards upgrades and security requirements (e.g. CSP, ISO20022)
Working with on‑premises and hosted infrastructure, gaining hands‑on exposure over time
Developing an understanding of SWIFT messaging flows (MT/MX / ISO20022) and the wider payments ecosystem
Supporting and maintaining platform documentation, testing practices and continuous improvement activities
What we are looking for
Good technical background with experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, or systems support
Solid understanding of Windows Server OR Linux (preferably RHEL)
Experience working in production environments, including incident investigation and resolution
Exposure to patching, upgrades or configuration of critical systems
Foundational understanding of networking concepts (e.g. connectivity, routing, VPNs)
Some exposure to SWIFT, financial messaging, or similar enterprise messaging platforms
Understanding (or awareness) of structured messaging or data flows (e.g. ISO20022, MT/MX concepts)
Experience or exposure to working within regulated or business-critical environments, including change control practices
Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Awareness of testing and regression testing, and why organisations validate changes before release
Desirable skills and experience
Hands‑on experience with:
SWIFT Alliance products (SAA, SAG, SNL) or similar platforms
SWIFT connectivity, VPNs, or network provider integrations
Exposure to:
SWIFT CSP or security-related initiatives
Certificate management / HSM concepts
Experience with:
Automation or scripting (any language)
SWIFT APIs or integration tooling
Knowledge of:
U2A configuration for EU flows
SWIFTNet Instant / AGI Knowledge
Awareness of platform costs, licensing or usage considerations (e.g. SWIFT messaging volumes)

Screening: You’ll spend 30-45 minutes speaking to one of our recruiters learning more about the role and ClearBank, and we’ll get it know more about you, your experience and how your skills align with the role (this will be via phone or Teams video call). You can expect to hear back from us within seven days following this meeting (if things are taking longer than expected, we’ll let you know that too);
First Interview: You’ll spend one hour with a member of our hiring team focusing on your skills, competencies and your ways of working at the same time we’ll give you time to ask more questions about the role, the team and learn more about the ClearBank culture. This will be via Teams.
Second Interview: This will be a competency-based interview with one or more members of our team.
Final Stage: You will have a final meeting with the Head of Department. This will be around 45-60 minutes.
