Job Description

We are Centrica! We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising a cleaner, greener future. Working here is #MoreThanACareer - we’re powered by purpose. Together we can make an impact that will truly change tomorrow. Whether you’re developing cutting-edge green tech, helping customers on the front line or simplifying operations behind the scenes.

Your work here isn’t just a job – it’s a mission. We all play a vital role in energising a greener, fairer future.

We have an exciting secondment opportunity for approximately 14 months for a CHP Service Coordinator. The role involves coordinating and organising service visits and breakdowns for CHP Service Engineers while continuously monitoring the CHP engines. This includes conducting initial investigations and first-line fault finding to identify the cause of any faults. If remote repairs are not feasible, you will schedule visits for the engineers, briefing them on the failure, potential causes, and necessary actions to rectify the issue. You will also liaise with the stores team to ensure the correct parts are dispatched and maintain communication with the customer. Each CHP Service Coordinator is responsible for managing up to 25 Service Engineers and overseeing up to 250 CHP units.

Location: With our Flexible First working arrangements we empower our colleagues to work in a way that best suits them – meaning location doesn’t need to be a barrier. This role can be mostly based at home with occasional meetings required at our Centrica sites. Stockport is the preferred location for this role.

What will you do?

  • Prioritise repair work based on contract types, geographical location, availability of parts and reason for service corrective maintenance.
  • Always maintain effective planning through continual communication with Senior Engineers and Area Managers.
  • Interaction with the Service Manager/Assistant Service Manager to provide business critical updates/ongoings of the CHP fleet.
  • Keeping all relevant CHP information up to date on CPOS (running/non running information etc) to enable others to gather required information when needed.
  • Exceptional customer service and call handling, liaising with customers daily to provide solutions to customer queries/requests and to do it efficiently and professionally.
  • Making sure the customers are aware of any non-running CHP’s, planned visits, required parts. Any movement of jobs to be communicated to the customers verbally.
  • Liaising with the Regional Managers and Senior Engineers to review performance of the fleet and the Service team.
  • High standard of Housekeeping to include desks and your graphical planner.
  • Participate in weekend/bank holiday shifts along with a different shift pattern when requested as per contractual agreements.

Who are we looking for?

  • Detailed understanding of CHP systems (including engines, generators and heat recovery in a number of different applications and different engine manufacturers).
  • Expert operational knowledge of the control systems (DIRMS, Gkontrol, Epower, Comap, websupervisor, AXO).
  • Using the stock system to identify parts and liaise with the stores & procurement teams to ensure parts are delivered to the engineers and/or customer locations.
  • Ability to prioritise and plan own workload to a deadline in a busy department.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills and communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of the business.
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of Excel and MS office.
  • A self-motivated individual with attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility and willingness to undertake other tasks (team player).
  • Significant experience in a customer service environment.

Our people are the beating heart of our business. We are incredibly proud of our commitment to being FlexFirst. At Centrica we embrace diversity and actively seek to attract individuals with unique backgrounds and perspectives. To build a more sustainable future, we need the best team – a team with a diverse mix of people and skills, where everyone feels welcome and able to succeed. We are dedicated in helping to close the diversity gap and would love to see more females, people of colour and LGBTQ+ employees, as well as those from a variety of cultures and ethnicity to veterans and the differently abled. Supporting diversity and inclusion is a big part of who we are, we are not looking for people to fit into our culture but to add to it!
