Senior Surveillance Investigator
Centrica Energy Marketing & Trading (EM&T) is the trading arm of Centrica. We trade LNG, gas, power and energy attributes - and connect independent producers, suppliers and corporate off-takers in the wholesale energy markets. We move and trade energy to satisfy the changing needs of customers.

Our offices span across London, Denmark, Germany, Sweden and Singapore.
The Senior Surveillance Investigator is a key and varied role within the Surveillance team reporting into the Head of Monitoring and Surveillance. This role will require the individual to have the ability to dig into the detail of any given matter that may arise, create concise reports in a timely and thorough manner. Investigative, reporting and presentation skills are a must with the right candidate needing to present their findings verbally as required.
Location: This role can be based out of our London, Aalborg or Copenhagen offices, however, the successful candidate must be comfortable with international travel (circa 15%).
About the Role:
The key areas of responsibility will include:
Using your advanced skills in data analysis and investigative techniques to make a strong contribution to reviewing, investigating and reporting on matters which may arise internally or externally in a timely manner
Performing investigations on a variety of trading, and wider firm matters, to a high standard
Working on highly confidential issues in an unbiased manner while maintaining professional conduct, confidentiality, and ethical standards
Ensuring accurate documentation is created and maintained, tracking activities performed to ensure delivery success
Identifying and escalating risks that may arise in a clear and concise manner
Conducting interviews of custodians where required
Contributing towards the design and maintenance of effective procedures as well as the creation and preparation of management information and reporting
Supporting the reviewing, drafting and submitting of regulatory or exchanges requests and/or STORs
Collaborating with other internal Compliance teams on the annual and trigger-based MAR Assessment
Collaborate with members of the Compliance team to promote knowledge and improve skills
Support the review of the more egregious Surveillance alerts that may require support and in depth analysis
About You:
6 years+ experience gained within a surveillance function across trade, voice and eComms
Good understanding and knowledge of key regulations, including MAR, REMIT, EMIR, MIFID and others
Broad experience in Power, Gas and LNG markets including physical markets essential with a decent level of understanding of all core trading and corporate compliance risks
Proficient in analysing energy trades, order data and complex transactions, including the short-term European Power markets, having been in an Energy trading related background would be advantageous
Ability to produce reports to a high standard
Ability to communicate and present to traders and senior management in a clear and concise manner
Ability to identify trends, patterns and outliers using SQL, python, Tableau, Power BI or similar analysis tools
Proven experience of performing reviews of algorithmic activity advantageous
Ability to work with IT and internal teams to improve on investigative capability
Strong strategic and commercial awareness with regards to the importance of and role of surveillance controls and governance within a commodities trading business
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Be a strong collaborator and demonstrate good ethics and integrity
