Overview

At Centrica Business Solutions (CBS) we provide integrated energy solutions that deliver cost efficiency, resilience and accelerate our customers’ journeys to a low carbon future. In Centrica Energy Assets (CEA) within CBS we are building a 1GW portfolio of flexible energy generation assets including solar, battery and hydrogen ready peaking plants to help drive the transition to Net Zero.

The initial focus of CEA’s low carbon asset strategy is on the investment into utility scale solar and battery assets in the UK, whilst pursing tactical peaker investment opportunities. We have 31MWp solar; 49MW BESS and 50MW gas peaker in operation, and have taken final investment decision on a further 104MW BESS; and 70MW peaker, with many more opportunities across all technologies within exclusivity and qualification stages.

We have developed a refined inclusive team with trusted expertise across origination and commercial; technical development; project delivery; and asset management, to drive the successful development of these large-scale assets from acquisition through to FID.

To build upon the development of the commercial team, CEA is seeking a Senior Investment Analyst to lead a team of 5 competent and passionate investment analysts. We are excited to bring someone on board who is committed to learn, and enthusiastic about renewable energy, with strong financial acumen and can manage multiple stakeholder requests in an organised and efficient manner.

The Role

Some of your key accountabilities will include:

Responsible for the valuation of multiple BESS, solar and peaker opportunities through bespoke discounted cash flow (DCF) models, through delegation of activities to the team of analysts
Contribute to shaping CEA’s investment decisions and longer term strategy of asset deployment, and planning priority of projects with the wider CEA commercial leadership team
Support the governance and approvals process for achieving investment committee signoff for the development of these large-scale projects, including the development of investment committee (IC) papers.
Managing both wider stakeholders and immediate team to ensure investment models are reflective of current economic environment, relevant policies and market costs
Support internal and external acquisition due diligence

The Person

We would like you to have some of the following experience for this role:

Degree in a relevant competency
Experience within the energy industry, specifically within renewable energy is preferred; and finance experience/exposure is desirable (along with any other relevant professional qualifications, including CFA).
Previous management experience of driving a team to achieve targets and nurturing development
Strong aptitude to learn and put into practice complex financial and industry concepts
Self-motivated with a real ‘can-do’ attitude to drive assets from origination through to final investment decision (FID), with acceptance of accountability
Organised, collaborative, diligent, and able to manage multiple live projects on an ongoing basis in a tight deadline environment
