Senior Electrical Engineering Manager

That’s why we need a brilliant Senior Electrical Engineering Manager to help us get to where we’re going. You’ll bring bags of energy, know-how and passion to our family of door-opening brands, including British Gas and Hive. And you’ll join a team who are just as focused delivering on fantastic results as you are.

This role is key to helping us deliver on our ambitions towards Net Zero. You will own the end-to-end technical journey for our domestic customers and colleagues and importantly you will be able to bring experience in electrical design and if possible, installations in EV’s and renewable domestic heating.

You will work closely with our commercial, field functions and HSE teams as a consultant to deliver a smooth streamlined industry leading business whilst motivating and leading a remote technical team.

Key accountabilities:

• Be the principle and accountable technical installation designer for electrical installations.

• Apply regulatory and industry standards.

• Align technical journeys to commercial goals.

• Lead & motivate a team of remote technical experts to deliver brilliant customer and colleague experiences.

• Be the voice for British Gas and drive technical innovation in renewable technology.

• Be an escalation point for in day technical queries and provide approvals.

• Work closely with commercial and product teams to advise on suitable hardware to meet customer, industry and company needs.

• Obsess about innovation, encouraging your team to be creative and challenge to make our offerings for our customers better and more efficient.

Who are we looking for?

• Significant people management experience, preferably of leading a large remote technical team.

• Electrical installations experience.

• Electrical design experience.

• Electrical testing, inspection and certifications.

• Electronic and Electrical Principles experience.

• Relevant standards & legislation experience, including the Electricity at Work Regulations, BS7671 and relevant CoP’s for the range of electrical work undertaken.

• Part P of the building regulations.

• City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2 (or equivalent).

• City & Guilds 2382 - B.S. 7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations (IET Wiring regulations (18th Edition)).

• City & Guilds 2391 - Periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations.

• Professional registration would be desirable (preferably with the Institute of Engineering & Technology).
