Revenue Assurance Analyst

Job Description

The position is within a team responsible for the UK Energy Supply revenue processes across a combined portfolio of 12m customers.

The business is currently undergoing an exciting transformation, migrating customers onto a new billing platform. The successful candidate will have heavy involvement in this migration through having responsibility over the accrued income (Unbilled), revenue reporting, and controls across both billing systems as our customers migrate. Due to this, and the focus on accrued income this position will have high visibility within the Financial Control (FC) area. This role will be critical for ensuring month end processes operate correctly, and that reported revenues have flowed through the billing systems fully and accurately, into SAP ERP and revenue reports.

Location - Office based in Windsor / Flexible home working

Accountabilities

  • Manage the key revenue system controls, reconciliations, and processes for financial reporting.
  • Manage the unbilled estimation process for reporting of customer unbilled revenue and consumption. This role is critical in ensuring our systems and processes are robust to deliver accurate revenue and consumption numbers.
  • Responsibilities will mainly concentrate on UK Home processes however the role holder will be required to develop understanding/ support other business unit reporting.
  • The position has daily, weekly and monthly BAU tasks that account for approx. 60% of activity. The remainder is shared between issue management, improvements, change testing and projects.
  • There is a 3 working day month end close period for which this role is heavily involved during the first 2 working days, with unbilled currently run ahead of month end.

Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Naturally inquisitive with drive to understand complex systems and processes, and to get to the bottom of issues.
  • Highly proficient in Excel and tools such as Power Query/Power BI, with a proven track record of designing, maintaining, and updating sophisticated spreadsheet-based reporting and modelling.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills. Someone who naturally develops networks, often non face to face e.g. offshore partners.
  • Strong communication skill. Ability to understand and explain complex finance/ system issues to a variety of stakeholder groups working towards a common goal.
  • Previous experience of SAP, BW and Business Objects would be a significant advantage.
  • Experience of developing and implementing process improvements. An eye for improvement opportunities, likes and advocates change.
  • Role ideally suited for part qualified accountant with experience in finance systems.
  • Some knowledge of SQL/Python or similar languages would be an advantage.
