An opportunity to play your part – As the successful candidate your role as Category Manager's revolves around formulating and implementing a strategic plan for a high-value category or one of significant business importance. This involves collaborating with stakeholders to carry out procurement projects aimed at achieving the most advantageous commercial results for Centrica.

The day to day

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to create a procurement activity plan, taking into consideration new business requirements, business strategy, emerging risks, and expiring supplier contracts

  • Leverage a deep understanding of market dynamics, utilizing tools like Porters Five Forces and Kraljic, as well as cost drivers specific to the goods/services/technology in question to craft the category strategy

  • Develop go-to-market strategies in conjunction with business stakeholders

  • Engage with and exert influence on stakeholders to maximize the impact of the category strategy

  • Take the lead in managing complex, high-value tenders in alignment with the Category Strategy

  • Conduct commercial negotiations for intricate deals while managing the diverse demands of multiple stakeholders

  • Lead the drafting and negotiation of contracts in collaboration with Commercial Legal and specialized legal teams

  • Foster Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) activities in accordance with the Centrica SRM framework

  • Project manage procurement initiatives, encompassing all aspects of risk management and contract governance processes, in collaboration with business stakeholders (Group Contracts Committee, Group Investment Committee)

  • Manage and provide guidance to category specialists as needed

  • Effectively oversee and optimize the supplier base within the category, including buying channels and category playbooks, to facilitate tactical sourcing

  • Cultivate strong relationships and establish yourself as a vital business partner to the core stakeholder group

  • Collaborate across the Procurement Function to ensure the best possible experience for stakeholders
