Job Description
Centrica Energy is the trading arm of Centrica. We trade LNG, gas, power and energy attributes - and connect independent producers, suppliers and corporate off-takers in the wholesale energy markets. As the People Partner you will work within the People Partnering team to support the delivery of the overarching people plan and Centrica people strategy across a number of business functions aligned to Centrica Energy.
As the People Partner for Centrica Energy you will be required to work at pace to diagnose, design and deliver the very best People solutions required for delivering the people plan, linking in with Centres of Excellence (CoEs) and other HR shared services to leverage key expertise and ensure consistent delivery.
Working as part of a flexible people partnering team ensures business intimacy & commerciality to provide business support where needed. Providing professional end to end expertise, coaching & support to business leaders, in line with best practice and relevant Country employment law.
This role is based out of our London office (close to Marble Arch) and would require you to spend 3-4 days per week working in the London office and some flexibility for home working. There would also be a requirement for some overseas travel to other Centrica Energy offices especially in both Belgium and Denmark.
Key accountabilities of the role:
HR service delivery & projects
Ensure HR day to day generalist activity with high quality consistent service delivery across business units and in line with HR operating policy, processes, tools & frameworks based on current legislation, good practice and business needs
Collate workforce and functional performance insight and use proactively to identify issues for resolution
Partner with other support functions (e.g. Legal, Compliance, Finance) to ensure effective and timely delivery of HR services
Where required, take the lead in identifying, planning for and delivering HR support for organisational change projects which will include, but are not limited to, re-organisations, divestments, acquisitions and other changes as required
Provide insight regarding, local market requirements to the Director, People Partnering so that they can be taken into account
Ensure that reward programmes are rolled out across the business unit and support managers in making good reward decisions
Understand the business strategy and therefore people plan requirements and translate into practical delivery.
HR expertise and business counseling
Provide coaching/counselling to all levels of management on management of HR issues, to ensure they take accountability and that they possess the required capability and skillset to guide in the successful resolution of HR issues
Proactively identify and update content knowledge and guidance for access by line managers and employees, in particular in relation to in-country legislation as well as best practice
Provide specialist and technical expertise in accordance with Centrica policies, processes and guidelines and the capabilities expected of a multi-country / regional People Partner
Play an active role in ensuring that relevant legislative requirements are met and own/implement relevant initiatives to achieve business compliance
Ensure that Group HR processes and policies are implemented, as applicable.
Risk management and compliance
Ensure compliance with legal or regulatory changes
Identify high-impact HR/ER issues/risks and institute mitigation steps in partnership with key stakeholders.
The Person:
Work Experience & Functional/Technical Skills required
Strong generalist people background, with experience delivering people related activities across a wide range of people subject matters i.e. Reward, Transformation, Performance and Talent, D&I
Experience of people related delivery across a number of different business areas and portfolios
Experience of working as a people generalist in a complex, matrix business within Commodity Trading, Investment Banking or similar
Experience of delivering people change and transformation projects and understanding of employment legislation and policy application
A demonstrable track record of translating vision, strategies and business requirements into clear, actionable goals and delivering excellent results and outcome
A successful track record of operating commercially and executing plans effectively
Ability to contribute to the development of the overall function strategy and vision.
