Origination & Planning Specialist - 12 mth FTC

Employment type:  Full time

Job Description

Origination & Planning Specialist 12 mth FTC

Flexible UK Locations / FlexFirst Hybrid working

Overview

At Centrica Business Solutions (CBS) we provide integrated energy solutions that deliver cost efficiency, resilience and accelerate our customers’ journeys to a low carbon future. In Centrica Energy Assets (CEA) within CBS we are building a 1GW portfolio of flexible energy generation assets including solar, battery and hydrogen ready peaking plants to help drive the transition to Net Zero.

We’re looking for an experienced renewables Originator with town planning experience to work within our Greenfield origination team. The role is to create growth through originating new developments whilst applying a critical planning appraisal. This is a 12 mth FTC.

You will also have a key role in supporting the pipeline of the wider origination team, acting as the planning sponsor to advise and promote opportunities into the planning process.

This role is very much for an ambitious individual wanting to grow, drive and develop their career in a supportive environment. Within the wider team, the role definition will evolve, and the person will influence the prioritisation and shaping of the objectives going forward.

The Role

You’ll be accountable for developing new grid connected, greenfield opportunities for solar and co-located battery assets UK wide, working in collaboration with the wider team.

To do this you will identify grid capacity and probable locations to connect at either DNO or national grid scale. You’ll research, identify and contact suitable land owners close to identified grid connections. You will also need to visit the potential sites and prepare site reports and terms.

You will also screen all project opportunities against planning and regulatory risk which may steer or impact any company investment decisions. Regular reporting is also required.

The Person

You’ll be a great communicator with strong analysis and attention to detail skills who is able to problem solve and react positively to time pressure.

From a technical point of view you will need to have a planning related degree, MRTPI chartered and have relevant work experience which includes on-shore large scale renewable projects (either as a determining Planner or Consultant an advantage).

Experience of Environmental Impact Assessment legislation is also a prerequisite and the willingness to travel to multiple UK sites.

#LI-CBS

At Centrica we embrace diversity and actively seek to attract individuals with unique backgrounds and perspectives. To build a more sustainable future, we need the best team – a team with a diverse mix of people and skills, where everyone feels welcome and able to succeed. We are dedicated in helping to close the diversity gap and would love to see more females, people of colour and LGBTQ+ employees, as well as those from a variety of cultures and ethnicity to veterans and the differently abled. Supporting diversity and inclusion is a big part of who we are, we are not looking for people to fit into our culture but to add to it!
