An opportunity to play your part. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for supervising a team of six professionals specialising in CAPEX, M&E, and property projects. Additionally, you will have accountability for a total expenditure of approximately £65 million, covering various locations, including corporate offices, warehouses, and training academies, involving a mix of leased and owned properties.
The day to day
- Collaborate closely with senior stakeholders across the organization to align property strategies with theirs.
- As a member of the PLT, establish the functional agenda for the property sector and contribute to its evolution into a strategic business partner.
- Nurture the professional growth of direct reports by establishing and monitoring clear sets of objectives.
- Build and cultivate a team of highly motivated professionals capable of engaging with stakeholders and suppliers at both tactical and strategic levels.
- Ensure that market knowledge is acquired and appropriately utilized by the teams under your management to facilitate discussions with stakeholders.
- Optimize benefits at the group level by striking a balance between the needs of individual business units, while ensuring that all business units realize long-term incremental advantages from a unified approach to procurement and real estate strategy.
- Operate within the appropriate level of authority as defined by the DOA parameters.

- Proficient leadership skills, including the capacity to build and nurture high-performing teams capable of achieving ambitious targets.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities, encompassing the skill to convey ideas, plans, and objectives clearly and persuasively.
- Demonstrated capability to formulate a strong strategic vision, particularly in the context of large and intricate business domains.
- Recognized as an industry authority, showcasing a profound understanding of property trends and their practical implementation within one's organization.
- Proficiency in remotely managing teams located in various geographical locations.
- Established financial acumen, with the capability to secure the most advantageous commercial position across various expenditure categories.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, which include interactions with executive committee members and leadership teams. This involves active listening and influential abilities to challenge established norms and practices.
- The ability to balance diverse and sometimes conflicting stakeholder demands to deliver the optimal value at the group level. This includes the skill to find mutually beneficial solutions for all stakeholders in the long term.
- Strategic thinking capabilities, with the capacity to articulate strategies based on internal and external insights. Coupled with this, there is proficiency in project management and execution to ensure the successful implementation of these strategies.
- Exceptional negotiation skills, particularly in complex, multi-year agreements. This also involves providing support and coaching to teams under your supervision.
- Expertise in strategic supplier relationship management, aimed at extracting value from external partners beyond traditional cost reduction measures.
