Our Gas Spot Trading team in Aalborg is looking for Short Term Gas Traders to join our team and help us to maximize the value of all opportunities in which Centrica Energy Trading can proprietarily trade in gas markets.

The Job role:

You will be part of our Gas Spot trading team, a dynamic and international team, where the time from analysis to execution is very short. Responsibility comes fast with results and gives ideal foundation for making an impact. You will be working in close cooperation with the traders in the Gas Spot team to support in delivering results.

This role will be based in Aalborg (Denmark)

Job responsibilities will include:

• Proprietary trading in European Gas Markets – maximizing PnL within Risk and Compliance framework

• Develop and execute day-to-day and intraday strategies

• Obtain expert understanding of the key drivers of the Gas Market

• Optimizing portfolios and exploiting the synergies between them

• Take active part in developing and executing of algorithmic trading and automatization

• Analyze new markets and or opportunities in existing market.

• Manage and coordinate projects across functions in-house with IT specialists, Trade supporters etc

• Suggest improvements in trading and analytical activities to ensure that the team is constantly improving.

• Having read and understood all compliance material and always act according to the Remit Rules and in a compliant manner

• Provide open and honest feedback

• Fulfilling targets agreed with the team lead

The ideal candidate:

• MSc in Finance, Mathematics or Economics preferred

• A strong interest in financial markets, renewables, energy systems and trading

• A thorough understanding of general economic relations and theory

• Former experience as a business analyst or trader is preferable but not essential

• Great IT skills: Python, VBA, Excel, R, C++ or similar coding languages are a plus

• Innovative mindset that questions status quo

• Result-orientated mindset with focus on delivery and execution

• A strong interest in financial markets, renewables, energy systems and trading

• Calm under pressure, ability to handle difficult stakeholders and situations

• Reliability, delivery focused and able to prioritize and manage disparate problems simultaneously

• A team player with strong communication skills

• Accuracy, timeliness and attention to detail

• Flexibility in terms of working hours when required.
