Finance Graduate Programme

Life at Centrica

We're more than an energy company: We are a family of 12 different brands, on a mission to revolutionise how we power the planet. We heat homes, light up careers, and ignite communities.

We’re Energisers. We live and breathe energy. We’re constantly learning, collaborating, and empowering change. On top of your day-to-day role, there are many colleague-led networks and communities that we encourage you to get involved in that are focussed on celebrating individuality and chatting about the things we love. From networks that celebrate LGTBQ+ and disability, to digital communities where we talk all things fitness and gaming! We also strongly encourage volunteering by allowing 2 paid days so that you can give back to your local community.

We are a Flexible-First employer, which means we live and breathe a culture of trust and flexibility at work. We need you to be willing to be on-site regularly as we believe immersing yourself into our social and collaborative culture is vital in making the most of the opportunities we offer and will give you the best possible head start in your career.

If you're full of energy, fired up about sustainability, and keen to craft not only a better tomorrow, but a better you, then come join a team where your voice matters, your growth is non-negotiable, and your ambitions are our priority.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

Our 3-year Finance Graduate Programme offers a unique opportunity to accelerate your career and support your development into a truly well-rounded Finance professional, you will work across Centrica’s business areas and the corporate centre in the head office in Windsor with flexible working.

Centrica is a uniquely integrated energy company with significant positions in Retail, Optimisation and Infrastructure. More widely we are supporting the energy transition, investing in low-carbon and flexible electricity assets and support the UK’s energy security with the UK’s largest gas storage site and North Sea production assets, both of which have exciting future optionality to support net zero.

Our Finance function works across all our business areas and the corporate centre to provide financial control, performance analysis, critical insight and decision support. As a Graduate, you’ll be placed right at the heart of this work, progressing through three diverse, dynamic and fulfilling one-year placements to become a well-rounded finance professional in your own right.

The programme exposes you to a range of financial disciplines and business areas to help you grow and develop. Your placements will be flexible and could potentially include roles in Business Finance, Financial Control, and more specialist Corporate Centre teams such as Investor Relations, Treasury and Mergers & Acquisitions.

Professional qualification

During your time on the programme, we will help you to complete a full accounting qualification by providing you with training, support course funding and flexible study leave to allow you to balance your professional and in-role development. By the end of the scheme, you will have gained either your ICAEW (ACA) or CIMA qualification – whichever is the right qualification for you.

You will also develop multiple skills while on programme such as:

  • Analysis and problem-solving

  • Communication

  • Networking and collaboration

  • Technical financial analysis and an accounting qualification

Throughout the programme, you will be provided with an unparalleled level of support with access to buddies, mentors, and experienced line managers, as well as having a ready-made network of graduates across the business to tap into.
