Job Description

About carwow

We’re on a mission to change the way people buy, sell or use a car by creating the world’s best online car marketplace. Since starting our journey in 2011, we’ve grown to become one of the most trusted comparison sites with over 12 million active users and an ‘excellent’ Trustpilot rating of 4.7.

carwow is backed by some of Europe’s most respected technology, marketplace and automotive investors, with $55 million Series D funding secured in December 2021. Over 400 carwowers from 25 nationalities work with us in the UK, Germany, Spain and Portugal. One of our goals for 2023 is to become a Top 10 European Start-Up to work for.

About the role

Your mission is to make sure carwow is the go-to destination for consumers looking for advice when changing their car and to help make carwow famous for changing cars. You’ll be helping to attract and inform our ever-growing web audience by telling compelling stories that help consumers on their car-buying journeys, and contribute to building our reputation as a consumer champion by taking part in PR opportunities.

You will be the driving force in shaping our consumer content. You'll produce big-hitting advice features, manage all our advice content and work closely with PR and SEO to ensure your compelling stories reach as wide an audience as possible.

From blogs and thought leadership pieces to commentary on the latest industry issues, you’ll be a voice of carwow, while also taking responsibility for our guides and consumer advice.

Specific Responsibilities

Reporting into carwow’s managing editor, you will:
- Research, plan and write advice articles, blogs, guides and ‘best’ posts in order to help make carwow famous for changing cars, and help consumers make the right buying and owning decisions for them.

- Manage existing editorial, updating posts to keep articles accurate, relevant and maximising search opportunities.

- Write all content in our tone of voice.

- Help produce weekly and monthly editorial plans and prioritise your work accordingly, and work as part of the Content team, picking up work as required to help achieve the team’s wider goals.

- Act as editorial lead on the quarterly Insight newsletter - from providing ideas to writing, co-ordinating copy and proofing.

- Liaise with SEO, PR and commercial teams to coordinate campaigns, ensure best practise and maximise opportunities.

- Contribute to PR output - via written commentary, quotes, occasional longer-form pieces and acting as a spokesperson for carwow where required across print, radio and television as opportunities arise.

  • Experience in automotive journalism is a plus
  • Fluent English
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • A proactive and self-driven mindset, able to work independently and contribute as a team player.
