Job Description

Canopy has developed cutting-edge simulation technology for over 10 years. In that time, our team of Simulation and Vehicle Dynamics engineers has become renowned for technical excellence, bringing vehicle dynamics knowledge to highly sophisticated simulation software and producing state-of-the-art simulation tools used all over the world.

We are delighted to offer another role in our Simulation Development team to a talented and motivated engineer with a keen interest in growing their portfolio of motorsport simulations and improving their skills in software development.

This role would suit an early-career or recent graduate engineer looking to rapidly broaden their skill set in a dynamic, lean, high-performing team.

Responsibilities

· Developing our state-of-the-art vehicle model and simulation tool in response to changing client requirements and motorsport regulations

· Evaluating the performance of new and existing features in the vehicle model and simulation tool against real-world expectations to identify potential bugs and improve simulation results

· Liaising with clients to translate feedback and requests into clear written and verbal specifications for new features, and then implementing these features to enable clients to extract the best possible value from our tools

· Contributing to our suite of in-house test, development, and visualisation tools used for automated validation of our software releases

Required Skills & Experience

· Experience in race car vehicle dynamics, vehicle science, vehicle performance, vehicle modelling, race engineering, or motorsport simulations

· Strong STEM degree

· Familiarity with numerical simulation, optimization, control of nonlinear systems, or a related field

· Interest and demonstrable ability in physical modelling, in particular an understanding of the maths and physics underlying physical systems

· Experience of software development in an OO or low level language, for example C, C++, C#, Java, Rust

· A desire to work remotely, with great written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with our highly talented team of remote engineers

Desirable Skills

· Experience of commercial software development processes including git, CI/CD, DevOps, and QA methodologies

· Experience of professional motorsport

· Experience of working with deadlines and specifications, and communicating with clients
