Job Description

Camunda is the enterprise platform for agentic orchestration, enabling organizations to coordinate AI agents, people, and systems across complex, end-to-end business processes. With built-in governance, auditability, and human oversight, Camunda gives enterprises the control they need to move AI from pilots to production — safely and at scale. Trusted by over 700 organizations worldwide, including 9 of top 10 US banks, Camunda helps enterprises boost operational efficiency, accelerate time-to-value, and deliver better customer experiences.

Fully remote and global, we are in the middle of something bigger: transforming into an AI-first organisation, built on our own platform. We use Agentic AI to automate, orchestrate intelligent processes, and elevate human contribution across every team.

Named GP Bullhound’s Top 100 Next Unicorn list, 2025 Great Place to Work certified. Visionary in 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Business Orchestration and Automation Technologies. ranked 3rd in Flexa's 2026 Most Flexible Companies, We’re growing fast and looking for top talent to join our team. If you want meaningful work, visible impact and put something genuinely rare on your CV, keep reading.

About the role:

As a Senior Technical Writer at Camunda, you’ll be embedded within product teams, taking full ownership of documentation for key areas of our platform. You’ll work side-by-side with engineers, product managers, and designers to ensure our documentation is clear, accurate, and deeply aligned with the product experience. This is a hands-on role supporting our AI products team, where you’ll become a subject matter expert, directly shaping the developer journey through high-impact content around agentic orchestration. You’ll be part of a collaborative, mission-driven team focused on helping developers quickly and joyfully become productive with Camunda technologies.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Own and drive the documentation for one or more product areas, acting as the embedded technical writer within the corresponding product teams.

  • Work closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to stay deeply informed about the product roadmap and ensure documentation is accurate, timely, and aligned with feature development.

  • Become a subject matter expert in your assigned product areas, developing hands-on experience with the products to create documentation that reflects real-world usage and developer needs.

  • Lead documentation efforts from concept through release—planning, writing, reviewing, and maintaining content that empowers developers to succeed with Camunda technologies.

  • Advocate for documentation as a critical part of the user experience, bringing the user’s perspective into product discussions and influencing design and implementation where appropriate.

  • Continuously improve the structure, clarity, and completeness of the documentation based on analytics, user feedback, and your own insights.

  • Collaborate with other writers and the broader Documentation team to share best practices, contribute to team goals, and evolve our documentation tooling and standards.

What You Bring:

  • 5+ years of technical writing experience (including senior or equivalent) and a strong portfolio of developer-focused content such as user guides, installation guides, API references, tutorials, and technical blog posts.

  • Hands-on expertise with Java, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, and related technologies, and a proven ability to deeply understand and use complex technical products (ideally with Camunda 8 or similar products).

  • Experience with writing about AI concepts, including a good understanding of large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), model context Protocol (MCP), and other emerging AI technologies (for example, agentic orchestration).

  • Proven ability to tailor content for diverse audiences and technical backgrounds, including software engineers, application developers, business analysts, and process owners.

  • Experience with Docs-as-Code workflows and documentation frameworks such as Docusaurus, with comfort using Git and Markdown in a developer-centric environment.

  • Ability and/or willingness to use our product

Nice-to-haves:

  • Comfortable iterating on an existing technical writing style guide, advocating for its use cross-functionally.

  • Experience transitioning from engineers as primary documentation authors to technical writers as primary documentation authors.
