About the role

Role Description

The Procurement Professional is responsible for providing inputs and executing the procurement plan and activities in IT Hardware and Software Category aligning with the Category Strategy, governance & Business Partnering practices. This role collaborates with key suppliers and internal stakeholders in multiple CFU/CUs to ensure procurement competency and delivering value to BT and its customers.

Key responsibilities

Strategic

  • Support the development and execution of category plans and sourcing activities, in collaboration with stakeholders and suppliers, and deliver those plans using the appropriate procurement processes and sourcing levers
  • Build and maintain category knowledge, apply best practices around sourcing approach, supplier selection, total cost of ownership and negotiation tactics

Operational

  • Deliver business improvements and category plans and savings through planning and execution of sourcing, bid support, supplier management and risk management activities
  • Collaborate with regional and industry teams, execute and deliver category plan & sourcing activities against key metrics
  • Adhere to required procurement processes and activities, in line with other procurement teams
  • Collaborate / supports with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the business objectives and create long-term value through sourcing, procurement processes and governance
  • Ensure support on bids, sourcing and commercial activities, including compliance on contractual terms and conditions, service definitions and SLAs

What you will be doing (Role Accountabilities)

Activities

  • Execute category plan and performance, in collaboration with stakeholder community and suppliers, leveraging best practice procurement approaches and tactics, support regional and CFU implementation
  • Drive and deliver end-to-end sourcing projects including complex contractual and pricing models
  • Execute business improvements through the optimisation of commercial, design and process levers that minimise the Total Cost of Ownership
  • Develop and deliver policies and frameworks underpin products and service delivery
  • Co-ordinate with regional category teams, to deliver service and performance targets
  • Collaborate with other procurement teams and BT stakeholders to deliver brilliant outcomes for BT and our customers
  • Maintain relationships with key suppliers, negotiate commercial and contractual arrangements utilising the latest contracting tools, templates and terms and conditions, ensure required performance and contractual obligations are met, while incorporating innovative improvement initiatives

What you’ll need to succeed (Skills & Experience)

Skills needed

  • 3-5 years experience within the Procurement function, with strong strategic and tactical procurement skills, and the ability to deliver value and results for BT
  • Strong business knowledge in relevant category, particularly around supplier capabilities, commercial models, product lifecycles and partner programmes required to deliver portfolio and customer requirements
  • Demonstrates a track record of value adding capability and deliver against key metrics
  • Effective relationship management skills & ability to influence decision making with senior stakeholders within a matrixed environment
  • Ability to manage complex, strategic and commercial requirements between BT and Suppliers, deliver projects and results on time and in full
  • Demonstrates effective continuous improvement skills that exceeds customer expectations
