About the role

Delivery Performance exists to assure the success of the Digital portfolio by strengthening quality and predictability through clear methodology, outcome measurement, and continuous improvement. It builds organisational memory of effective best‑practice standards, improves and simplifies how teams deliver work, and supports programmes with delivery excellence and independent assurance to give transparent oversight of portfolio health and capacity, and address risks before they become issues.

This role leads the Delivery Performance Planning, Operations, Assurance and Insights team, supporting the broader Delivery vector mission and ensuring the operational foundations required to oversee the Digital portfolio as part of BT’s Digital Change journey. The role is accountable for delivering the Delivery vector roadmap, driving on-time execution across the unit, and interfacing with delivery governance and assurance processes.

It owns the operating rhythm for Quarterly Bookend Reviews, portfolio governance, executive reporting, Quality Assurance (QA) PMO activities, cohort enablement, and portfolio insight products. A key focus is transforming portfolio data into reliable, decision-ready insights on delivery health, performance, capacity, dependencies, risks and trends, enabling effective decision-making across leadership forums.

The role leads reporting and governance activities across monthly, quarterly and annual business cycles for Digital, Group and ExCo stakeholders, covering key Delivery Performance measures such as earned value indices, flow efficiency and productivity metrics. It also acts as the primary interface with Delivery Excellence, coordinating QA reviews, recommendation tracking, QA cohort management, capability-building activities, Delivery Performance awards, communications, and progress against unit goals.

What you’ll be doing

  • Manages the Delivery Performance roadmap, driving on-time execution, assurance gate readiness and progress against unit goals.
  • Operates Delivery Performance portfolio governance and business reporting, including Jira-based dashboards, Power BI reporting, HTML-supported dashboard
  • views, portfolio insights and management information for Delivery Excellence, Digital and BT Group leadership.
  • Leads the Quarterly Bookend Review cycle, bringing together portfolio performance, insights, risks, dependencies and decisions to support executive governance.
  • Leads QA operations, including review coordination, stakeholder mobilisation, onboarding, scheduling, materials, recommendation tracking and closure.
  • Identifies portfolio-wide problem themes and improvement opportunities, translating them into practical actions and leading delivery of improvement initiatives.
  • Develops plans for Delivery Performance initiatives, translating strategic priorities into clear milestones, deliverables, outcomes, financial plans and quality measures.
  • Leads communications planning and content development to support Delivery Performance goals, engagement and adoption.
  • Establishes the Delivery Performance Awards scheme to recognise real examples of excellence, role-model good practice and support capability uplift across Digital.
  • Manages Delivery Performance Operations specialists, supporting effective delivery of complex strategic portfolios on time and to quality.
  • Coordinates the development and continuous improvement of Delivery Performance operating models, approaches and ways of working.
  • Coaches talent, and manages others, to develop capabilities and ensure performance through upskilling, development and recruitment.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Minimum 8–10 years’ experience across delivery excellence, portfolio planning and operations, programme management, governance, portfolio insights, KPI / metric reporting and business reporting.
  • Experience managing the delivery of large-scale projects or portfolios within a complex organisation.
  • Experience leading portfolio planning, operations and governance within a technology-led organisation.
  • Experience managing complex stakeholder groups across senior and cross-functional environments.
  • Experience managing key metrics, portfolio insights and executive reporting for senior leadership and C-suite audiences.


Portfolio Insights, KPI & Reporting Experience

  • Experience developing and managing portfolio insight products, KPI frameworks and metric reporting.
  • Practical experience with Jira-based portfolio reporting, including dashboards, data quality, delivery health, risks, dependencies and trends.
  • Experience creating or managing Power BI dashboards and leadership reporting packs.
  • Experience using HTML-supported dashboard presentation or similar formats to present portfolio management information clearly.


Delivery, Governance & Operations Experience

  • Experience supporting delivery governance, business planning cycles, assurance forums and executive decision-making.
  • Experience managing delivery operations, risks, issues, dependencies, milestones, actions and outcomes.
  • Experience with documentation, records management and maintaining accurate management information.


Leadership & Stakeholder Experience

  • Experience influencing, engaging and managing diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience leading teams, coaching others and supporting capability development.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information for senior audiences.
