
Cyber Security Specialist
Job Description
Full time, 3 days a week together out of our London Digital Hub (flexible 2 days remote wherever).

BT Business provides large scale multi-year contracts to government departments. The Secure Engineering team, Digital is accountable for ensuring the development, connectivity, and maintenance of multiple Service Management Platforms to recover revenue of more than £400m per annum.
This role will help deliver cyber security solutions for UK Government customers ensuring protection of data & systems is at the forefront design decisions.
As a Infrastructure Engineering Specialist with a strong focus on Cyber Security, you will play a critical role in safeguarding secure customer networks, systems and data by designing, implementing, and managing cyber security related projects. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, development, and business stakeholders, to ensure security is the number one priority of what we deliver for our customers.
Role accountabilities
1. Manages the implementation of high-level designs for stable network and infrastructure environments that meet the needs of BT, are shared with partners, and are compliant with current security, privacy, and audit requirements
2. Leads the maintenance of IT Infrastructure components, tools or locations and executes the designs on services (e.g., network, security, storage, compute, cyber), which are to be produced in
line with design standards
3. Provides advanced technical knowledge and expertise where needed to support managers, principals, or technical experts to resolve complex issues
4. Leads the collaboration with stakeholders across application development, enterprise architecture, infrastructure and cyber security teams to implement an effective product roadmap
5. Leads the day-to-day support for internal tools and system health, as well as infrastructure implemented for all projects and managing customer support contracts
6. Leads the collaboration with technical architects, using advanced technical knowledge and past experience to translate architectural designs into operations
7. Writes documentation and builds tooling that makes the infrastructure easier to use and manage
8. Drives the documentation of the processes, measurements, and assessments required for both individual work and projects
9. Leads the activities and collaborates with team members in the installation, configuration, maintenance, support, and optimisation for all network and infrastructure hardware, software
and communication links
10. Audits and reports on the performance and the overall health of the network and infrastructure and recommends or initiates corrective action or enhancements
11. Champions, continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in infrastructure engineering best practices and industry standards
12. Mentors’ other infrastructure engineers, helping to improve the team’s abilities by acting as a technical resource
Skills required for the job
The infrastructure Engineering Specialist independently designs and implements core cyber security components within a hybrid cloud environment to deliver highly available and scalable security posture, automating time intensive processes whilst meeting security and compliance objectives in all aspects of the ecosystem.

Experience: Extensive experience in cyber security technologies, with a strong focus on Fortinet, Palo Alto and Check Point. Proven track record of successfully deploying security solutions into on-premise and cloud environments.
Certifications: Holds industry recognised certification or relevant experience (Fortinet / Check Point)
Technical Skills: Proficient in cyber security components such as firewalls, IPS/IDs, access control & network security.
Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex systems and develop effective solutions. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Desirable: Experience working with CyberArk and Zscaler.
