Your Mission

To champion this and to drive our environmental and social value commitments forward, we are looking for a Head of ESG to join the team.

How you’ll fit in to the big picture

You will build strong connections across the whole of boxxe, championing boxxe’s sustainability credentials and ambitions amongst our boxxers, partners, customers, connected charities, and the wider community. Delivering boxxe’s ESG strategy, with a focus on data management, environmental compliance and reporting, supporting delivery of corporate sustainability targets and playing a key role in providing expertise, education and representation to internal and external stakeholders on all matters relating to environmental impact and social value. You will also drive a culture of sustainability throughout the company.

What you’ll be doing

As part of the Senior Leadership Team, you are responsible for the day-to-day development and implementation of boxxe’s ESG framework and strategy, supporting individual teams to understand how they fit into the ESG strategy and what they can do to support our key goals. You will actively liaise with different business functions to develop ESG goals, create metrics to measure performance and implement process and policy improvements on ESG.

  • Proactively manage ESG compliance with current and future regulations including identifying and implementing sustainability best practice trends (e.g., net zero, circular economy, social impact, etc.). Keeping abreast of sustainability related legislation with the ability to advise and implement activities to meet legislative requirements.
  • Assist in the development of ESG disclosures and reporting including developing KPIs and monitoring progress to report on ESG performance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assess the varying ESG rating providers and certificates to determine the most appropriate in supporting our ESG strategy.
  • Perform gap analyses against new ESG regulations to assess any actions or remediation that is required to adhere to regulatory requirements and support in development of the risk framework surrounding our ESG Strategy.
  • Working closely with the marketing team on ESG and sustainability communications including annual report content, case studies, and impact reports, as well as internal communications to bring our sustainability agenda to life.
  • Represent boxxe at industry events.
  • Provide training and raise awareness of departments and key individuals with regards to our ESG strategy and implementation.
  • Main contact for the Bids and Tender team for responses to tenders or PQQ submissions providing up to date information on ESG and sustainability information.
  • Support the boxxe Community Partner with volunteering opportunities and external social value initiatives and ensure that boxxe Community activities are aligned with B Corp values and evolve to meet any further B Corp developments.
  • Understanding company environmental aspects and their relative impact with a view to prioritising areas of focus and targets for reduction.
  • Data management, collection and reporting of boxxe’s ESG metrics, with continued improvements implemented year-on-year.
  • Lead for the annual and ongoing ESG strategy reviews, including development and monitoring of an effective carbon reduction pathway.
  • Lead on carbon impact data gathering and monitoring of current Scope 1 & 2 emissions and develop and implement the next stage strategy for Scope 3 including data gathering, supply chain engagement and provide advice and consultation upstream and downstream, as required, regarding topics relating to ESG and general sustainability.
  • Working closely with the procurement and supplier management teams to build on existing CSR/ESG and compliance policies for suppliers.
  • Lead on maintaining BS EN ISO14001 and other current accreditations as achieved.

What experience we think you’ll need

  • Demonstrable track record in-house leading strategy development and implementation of successful ESG strategies, environmental impact reduction strategies and policies and experience of successfully embedding a culture of ESG.
  • Experience of reporting to sustainability reporting frameworks for example, B Corp, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standard Board (SASB), Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Task force on Climate- Related Disclosures (TCFD) etc. Up to speed with ESG related legislation and understand implementation (i.e., CSRD, TCFD, EU Taxonomy, SECR).
  • Productive self-starter, confident working within a dynamic workplace.
  • Evidence of taking ownership and ability to prioritise and deal with a wide range of business requirements, as well as usual activities at the same time to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experienced at managing and delivering projects, working to targets, managing KPIs and delivering to deadlines.
  • Highly driven with the ability to think laterally and solve problems.
  • Analytical, able to read and understand data effectively. Confident in preparing, presenting, and analysing statistical information and managing budgets.
  • Ability to write well and communicate effectively to customers, colleagues, suppliers and partners.
  • Experience in measuring and reporting on Scope 1 & 2 carbon emissions and the ability to implement the company target of measuring and reporting on Scope 3 emissions.
  • Experience of successfully monitoring ISO14001 and/or ISO9001 Management Systems
  • Ability to work with challenging stakeholders and influence at all levels.
