Lateral is part of BMT Specialised Ship Design, a prestigious Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering design consultancy providing a broad portfolio of services for advanced and specialised vessels, from initial concept through to detailed design and production. With an established background in yachts, commercial and naval vessels and significant experience across all hull form types, propulsion systems and structural materials, the company utilises state of the art technology to provide innovative design solutions and consultancy services tailored to the individual requirements of owners, operators and shipyards worldwide. We work at the forefront of technology including working on the transition to net zero carbon technology.

About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Naval Architect undergraduate to join our team for a 12 month internship from July 2024. You will work on a variety of superyacht projects within our industry leading team of Naval Architects, based at our offices in Shamrock Quay, Southampton.

About you

To be eligible, you will:

• Be studying for, or recently completed a relevant engineering degree (Undergrad/Postgrad).

• Possess good communication skills, with a keen interest in collaborating with other stakeholders.

• Have good research skills and ability to develop ideas in a creative manner.

• Command IT Skills – Knowledge of MS Office preferred, with a desire to develop skills in reporting, calculation and presentations.

• Be self-motivated, proactive, with good time management.

• Have a readiness to develop skills in 2D and 3D CAD, typically in AutoCad and Rhino.

• Have a real drive and enthusiasm for the superyacht industry, and willingness to learn.
