Your next exciting job opportunity –

The Spatial Analyst is responsible for provision of analytical support by conducting a range of GIS and statistical data analysis including mapping services, spatial analyses, translating requests and creation of spatial data. This role also includes maintenance of spatial databases and other duties as directed by the Team Leader.

In this role you will be able to:

  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform technical tasks.
  • Liaise with clients and internal stakeholders for the purposes of service delivery.
  • Work as part of a project team to deliver projects to scope and within time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Undertake specific tasks including:
  • Collect and validate GIS data to produce high quality outputs.
  • Development and maintenance of GIS database
  • Image Rectification and Geo-Referencing Satellite images
  • Digital Elevation\Terrain Modelling
  • Topographic data import and manipulation
  • Difference Plots\Slope Analysis etc.
  • Stream network generation and ranking
  • Catchment Delineation & Land Use calculation
  • Digitising to produce geo-referenced and attributed GIS data.
  • Create visual representations of data to better inform the business to understand outcomes of statistical analysis and distribution patterns.
  • Work closely with other BMT spatial data analysts to develop tools and workflows for the analysis of remotely sensed data, with a key focus on:
  • vegetation community mapping.
  • vegetation condition mapping.
  • bathymetry mapping.
  • seabed habitat mapping.
  • water quality characterisation (turbidity, chlorophyll, water temperature).
  • wetland hydrology.
  • Contribute to the development of project management methodologies and processes that improve productivity, encourage innovation, and develop teamwork to enhance the delivery of BMT projects.
  • Relevant Education, Experience, and Skills:

    • Relevant degree level tertiary qualification in Spatial Sciences, GIS, remote sensing, Science, Natural Resources or related discipline or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum 8 years’ experience post-graduation
    • Experience using - QGIS, NearMap, Arc GIS (ESRI), AutoCAD, 12D*
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
    • Demonstrates initiative and takes a proactive approach to tasks.
    • Flexible, team player.
    • Experience working within a multi-site organisation.
    • Experience working within the engineering or resources sector.
