About the role

The Senior Business Development Manager – Infrastructure and Environment is a key business development position within the Future Business Team that combines a hands-on responsibility managing BMT’s growth plans for Infrastructure and Environment businesses whilst providing local management and coordination of the cross-functional Business Development and Sales activities.

Working with the Global Business BD Director – Infrastructure and Environment, the individual will be required to develop and deliver regional growth strategies based on and supporting BMT’s strategic global campaigns through a pipeline of high-quality opportunities comprising new work within the Infrastructure and Environment market sectors to meet our ambitious growth targets.

  • Engagement with customers, with a primary focus on consulting services related to marine environment and risk, ports and coastal infrastructure and offshore energy infrastructure
  • Strategic market development, specifically to support campaigns in the Infrastructure and Environment market sectors.
  • Operational management and reporting for BD/Sales activities, supporting the Global Business Development Director’s with in-region support and representing the BD component of Future Business on the local Future Business team.
  • Contribution to regional plans through identification of achievable growth strategies by matching BMT’s current and future capability and technology offerings to customer needs cognisant of competitors approaches, economic, social, technological, business and industry trends,
  • Identification of new business opportunities by analysing market trends, competitors’ share, and customers procurement behaviours to build a pipeline of high-quality opportunities which will underpin sustainable growth for BMT.
  • Leading the capture of opportunities and providing guidance to other pursuits both within and outside key regions,
  • Engagement with senior Industry and Government stakeholders to better understand trends impacting markets globally.

In terms of location, we have offices in Bath. Bristol. London, Southampton, Weymouth & Plymouth. Remote working will be supported in this role. About you

  • Experience in a Business Development/Sales position with demonstrable evidence of growing consulting business in environment and risk, ports and coastal infrastructure and offshore energy.
  • Intimate understanding of the procurement to support large Infrastructure and Environment projects and the bidding processes.
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated ability to translate market trends into profitable business decisions in a result driven environment.
  • Outstanding market knowledge across engineering and environmental consultancy projects, demonstrated through detailed knowledge of client behaviours and procedures as well as global market trends.
  • Experience of building appropriate and effective local and international networks.
  • Adapts to changing business needs, conditions, and work responsibilities.
  • Personal drive and appetite to further grow a successful business.
