About the role

As part of our exciting growth plans, we are looking for Safety Engineering Consultants with varying levels of experience to join our UK safety capability to support our clients to understand and comply with UK safety legislation and all aspects of safety engineering and management, particularly in compliance with UK MOD Safety policy.

As a Safety Engineering Consultant you will be part of a high-performing team that delivers independent and assured advice, and world class solutions to our varied client base across the maritime, air and land domains. You will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and experience of safety and risk management techniques, processes and concepts to exciting and varied work. You will often work on more that one project at a time and will receive support, guidance and mentoring from the team as required.

As a consultant you will have a contracted location in one of our offices (Bath, Fareham, Glasgow, Plymouth or Weymouth) and will be expected to work on client sites when required.

About you

We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic team members, ideally with a UK Defence background in engineering or safety; alternatively, experience of professional safety or risk management gained within the infrastructure, energy, transportation (air, rail, vehicle) or process sectors.

You will be a safety practitioner, ideally someone who is familiar with the application of safety regulation, policy and standards in any relevant domain.

You will have practical experience in the development and management of hazard logs; supporting and facilitating hazard identification and hazard review meetings; and authoring safety assessment/ safety case reports, including providing justification of risks being tolerable and as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP). You will be knowledgeable in statutory safety legislation and how to attain, and manage, legislation compliance.

As much of our work is directly customer focused, your excellent communication skills and ability to present professionally both verbally and in writing are essential for this role. We also welcome your analytical thinking skills and your ability to work well in a team.

You will be self-motivated with a proactive approach to professional accreditation, such as IEng or CEng. We value professional qualifications and professional registration with appropriate organisations and we can provide support, training, and tailored experience in order for you to achieve these, if not already held.

You must be able to satisfy UK Ministry of Defence security requirements and be eligible to work in the UK to be considered for this role.
