Your next exciting career opportunity -

To continue our success, we are looking for Senior to Principal Level Flooding Professionals to join our specialist flood team in Sydney and provide technical expertise and project management for a variety of flooding and water resources projects, as well as have an opportunity to share knowledge by mentoring and training others in the team. BMT offer you the opportunity to join one of Australia’s leading specialist flood teams, work on exciting projects and alongside the TUFLOW development team and strengthen or diversify your expertise with exceptional access to senior leadership.

In this role we will support you to:

  • Act as a technical specialist in the application of advanced concepts, principles and methods in flood modelling, floodplain management and/or flood response, warning, and intelligence.
  • Develop innovative yet commercially focused flooding solutions to deliver quality project and organisational outcomes for a range of public and private customers.
  • Perform high quality and professional technical work involving considerable independence in approach and a high degree of originality, ingenuity, and judgement.
  • Project manage/direct a range of projects to scope and within time, cost and quality requirements, as well as undertake client liaison and management.
  • Assist with business development initiatives by preparing proposals, client networking and relationship development, maintaining an awareness of emerging best practice methodologies and attending industry-related events.
  • Strengthen or diversify your expertise with support from senior leadership both in the people and technical space.
  • Supervise and review the work of other consultants in the team.
  • Share knowledge and act as a mentor.

Relevant Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or other relevant area of study.
  • More than 6 years’ post-graduate experience. Level of role will depend on level of experience.
  • Proven track record delivering high quality solutions and project outcomes using hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software (ideally TUFLOW and application of ARR2019) or applying flood risk management best practice.
  • Project management skills coupled with aligned skills in verbal and written communication, time management, commercial acumen and client management.
  • Demonstrated ability and/or desire to provide support, training and mentoring to other team members in industry recognised best practice.
  • Existing client network in relevant market sectors.
  • Demonstrated business management acumen.
  • Experience working within a multi-site organisation.
  • Experience working within the engineering or resources sector.
