About the Role

Due to exciting current and future workload requirements BMT is looking for graduates to join our Naval Architecture team working in the UK and Europe Region. Roles are available within our Defence and/or Commercial Marine Sectors. As a graduate, you will receive training from our experienced employees, supporting your journey towards achieving Chartered status.

We are looking for candidates who have the following.

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Naval Architecture or a similar related field preferably to Master’s level;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical concepts;
  • Ability to work in a team and collaborate with other engineers and professionals;
  • Enthusiasm to deliver a first-class service to our clients, marked by attention to detail; and
  • Desire to further their career and gain Chartered status.

Working in this technical consultancy focused role will provide you the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects and research, with the ability to tailor your training and project experience to align with your personal and professional aspirations. You will benefit from the mentorship of our experienced employees who are committed to facilitating your progression towards professional accreditation and, where suitable, the publication of technical articles.

This is a hybrid role, where you can work from home and in one of our UK offices. Our primary offices are in Bath/Bristol for the Defence Sector and Southampton for the Commercial Marine Sector. Depending on project needs you will be expected to occasionally travel to customer sites and BMT offices.

What is the Graduate Programme?

As a BMT graduate, you will be part of an exciting 2-year development programme which will equip you with the knowledge, skills and experience you will need to propel your career to the next level. You will receive a tailored training programme and be paired with a mentor who will support your development.

BMT, in partnership with a range of professional institutions, will support your journey towards Chartership if that is a route you are interested in. We will support you by paying your membership fees and providing a mentor to guide you through the application process.
