Field Engineer

About the role:

Field Engineer works with a team to assist in developing and testing electronic components and systems, in permanent monitoring systems, instrumentation and short-term deployment of specialized data collecting systems. Engineers in this role are applying principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering mathematics, electronic and electrical testing, and physics. Work is primarily performed in the field, offshore or in shipyards. Usually works under general supervision.

Duties/Responsibilities

Duties may include, but may not be limited to:

· Preparing for offshore installation and service trips – identification of needed tools, equipment and packing;

· Working with Service Engineers or Project Engineers in understanding the scope of work;

· Performing Job Safety & Environmental Analysis (JSEA);

· Performing offshore maintenance service, repair;

· Preforming offshore diagnostic with both hardware and software;

· Generation of Trip Reports

· Assembly of Electrical and Mechanical systems and sub-systems in BMT Labs

· Extended travel to remote and offshore locations

· Other duties as assigned

About you

Education and Work Experience:

Required:

· Minimum associate degree in Electronics Technology, Electronics Engineering or Electrical Engineering

· 2 years minimum experience in relatable field demonstrating the use of Analog and Digital electronics, systems integration, and communications

Desired:

· 5 years’ work experience

Skills /Abilities / Knowledge:

Required:

· Must be able and willing to work independently or in a team environment; with ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people including engineering, software, and data intelligence team.

· Ability to effectively engage in multiple projects at one time

· Demonstrated working knowledge and experience with analog and digital electronics, and data acquisition systems

· Basic skills related to the use of Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Adobe applications (Acrobat)

· Basic computer navigation skills

· Basic understanding of networking and network architectures

· Basic understanding of Serial RS232/422/485, ModBus and Open Platform Communications (OPC)

· Basic familiarity of completing a Job Safety Analysis

· Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics. Including wiring, assembly, and data flow diagrams/schematics

· Ability to identify and use various hand tools

· Ability to work well with others and to be an open-minded individual showing consideration to fellow employees

· Ability to work under pressure to resolve system related issues when/if they arise

Desired:

· Demonstrated working knowledge of AutoCAD, LabView, MatLab and C++ is a plus

Travel Requirements :

· The employee may be required to take and successfully pass rigorous offshore survival classes as may be required by company clients

· Capability to self-travel to required work sites up to ~450miles one way

· Acceptability for irregular schedules and work intervals

· Acceptability for offsite (Away from Office) travel up 60-70% of a calendar year

Physical Requirements :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, walk, sit and stand. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee will be required to regularly use a computer keyboard and monitor. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision.

· The employee may be required to support his or her own weight, and must be able to frequently walk up and down stairs

· The employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

· Comfortable working 10-12 hours a day with the possibility of, but not to exceed, 16 hours when working in shipyards or offshore

· Comfortable working at heights

Location

In terms of location, our office is in Houston, TX. Accessibility to Houston Office location (Working in office when not on a project). This or full-time position.
