Environment and sustainability are at the core of BMT’s principles. The Environmental Services Team provides environmental sustainability and management services across a number of areas including the Naval and Commercial maritime domain for both platforms and equipment, flood modelling and climate risk and resilience management. Other areas of expertise include auditing, environmental and sustainability legislation, and working with defence environmental regulators.

The Environmental Services Capability Manager acts as the professional head of function for the Capability Area. The role is responsible for professionally and efficiently leading the technical capabilities within the Capability Group to meet the current and future needs of its customers. This includes the day-to-day management and strategic development of Capability, effective utilisation of resource and the overall management of output delivery from within their Group. The Capability Manager also provides top level line management of Capability Team members.

The Capability Manager will be able to undertake fee-earning work to an appropriate level, commensurate with their Capability management workload.

Location

Location will be dependent upon responsibility and centre of gravity for Capability (as appropriate). The preference would be to be based in Bath or Bristol, however other locations will be considered.

Travel to other BMT offices as and when required (occasional overseas travel may be required.

About you

You should be:

· Able to demonstrate previous delivery and management experience within one or more of the market areas that BMT operates within in the UK;

· Professionally qualified and experienced leader within the environmental management, sustainability or environmental sciences field;

· Registered with an appropriate Professional Body at Chartered level or equivalent, or be able to demonstrate experience commensurate with that level of accreditation;

· Able to demonstrate a range of professional and behavioural competences aligned with the senior manager role at Level 6 of the relevant BMT Career Map and appropriate Job Family Frameworks (available on request).

This role will require full UK security clearance; you should have resided in the UK for the past 5 years and be a sole UK national.
