Data Engineer

About the role

As the Data Engineer, you will deliver the designs set by the Senior Data Engineer

You will support Data Engineering activities for a specified Data Domain / systems and help to recognise opportunities to reuse existing data flows.

You will support the build of data streaming systems and optimise the code to ensure processes perform optimally.

Supports work on database / data warehouse management

The role is flexible in terms of hours and locations – we’re happy to consider part time or full-time candidates, with hybrid working agreements.

About you

· Data Management

o Able to apply ethical and robust techniques in the transformation of data from one format/medium to another, in line with organisational policies and procedures and being sensitive to risks around the use of information.

· Programming/software development

o Able to design, code, verify, test, document, amend and refactor moderately complex programs/scripts.

o Able to apply agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result;

o Able to collaborate in reviews of work with others as appropriate.

· Data Modelling and Design

o Able to apply data analysis, design, modelling, and quality assurance techniques, based upon a detailed understanding of business processes, to establish, modify or maintain data structures and associated components (entity descriptions, relationship descriptions, attribute definitions);

o Able to advise database designers and other application development team members on the details of data structures and associated components.

· Database Design

o Able to develop appropriate physical database or data warehouse design elements, within set policies, to meet business change or development project data requirements;

• Able to interpret installation standards to meet project needs and produces database or data warehouse component specifications.

It would be desirable if you had understanding / knowledge of either IFS, Microsoft Azure or Microsoft Power Query / power BI.
