About the role

BMT is a global maritime engineering consultancy with a rich heritage. The Group’s legal entity structure has simplified significantly over the last 5 year. BMT currently operates in 7 countries, some having multiple legal entities, whose financial results and operational KPIs are consolidated each month.

This role is essential in ensuring the Group’s statutory consolidated balance sheet, profit and loss account and cash flow is complete, accurate, comply with the latest accounting standards and are produced efficiently. The role is also involved in the production of the Group’s Consolidated statutory accounts and the UK subsidiary accounts.

The role will assist in the production of the monthly consolidated management accounts, working closely with the Head of Global Reporting and Accounting to ensure that the actual and forecast results (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash flow) are correctly consolidated.

Responsibilities:

· Prepare the year end consolidated profit and loss account, balance sheet and cash flow along with a number of associated disclosure notes (including consolidated tax disclosure workings). Ensure appropriate reconciliations are performed.

· Review year end subsidiary packs for completeness, accuracy and technical compliance.

· Creation of defined benefit pension journals and associated reconciliations.

· Support the preparation of the Group Consolidated Statutory Accounts under UK GAAP FRS102 and all UK subsidiary accounts.

· Work with the BIRA team to produce year end reporting templates for the wider finance teams. Ensure all information required for the completion and audit of the Consolidated Group Statutory Accounts.

In terms of location, this role can be hybrid or onsite. Our office is based in Teddington. Your will be required in the office full time during key year end weeks. This role is available full time or part time (4 days per week)

About you

· Newly qualified Accountant, ideally ACA with experience through practice or industry of multinational companies.

· Strong technical accountant with the ability to communicate technical accounting in layman’s terms. Working knowledge of UK GAAP FRS102 and IFRS.

· Ability to work under own initiative with adherence to tight deadlines and an aptitude for attention to detail.

· Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication in all its forms, knowing the right form for each occasion. Able to communicate to all levels of staff from junior accountants to senior management.

· Highly organised, with a positive, can-do attitude.

· Ability to work flexibly and under pressure.

· Excellent excel skills and good word and powerpoint skills. Working knowledge of PowerBI also advantageous, but not essential.

· Able to work within a team and capable of delivering objectives.

· Ready to be a team player in the Business Intelligence, Reporting and Analysis Team and the wider BMT Global Finance team.
