Data and Administrative Officer (Clinical Trials)

Job Description

We are looking for a great communicator with excellent organisational skills who is passionate about data, to join the fight against blood cancer. Clinical trials play an important role in finding more effective and kinder treatments that support this aim and using the right data plays a crucial part in this.

As part of the Clinical Trials Support Service team, you will work with colleagues across Blood Cancer UK to enhance our ability to deliver transformational support to people affected by blood cancer, implement effective data collection methods and analysis to demonstrate impact and areas for improvement.

Key Responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure we’re capturing, storing, and utilising data in the most effective way to understand and demonstrate impact across all our services:
· Lead on further development of our database capabilities to capture secure, accurate and enriched data· Work with the internal and external CRM and digital teams to ensure our systems align for the best possible journey for people through the service across our website and database· Ensure all communications between CRM, digital systems and our community align with GDPR requirements· Run queries, searches, imports and exports and compile mailing lists to assist in targeted activities· Analyse and stratify data collection for reporting purposes· Produce timed reports for various stakeholders · Work with the policy team providing relevant data to support campaigns and influencing work· Work with the wider support services team and digital team ensuring data capture across the services align, enabling us to analyse the data and support the strategy work being undertaken Provide day-to-day administrative support to our Clinical Trials Nursing Team:· Managing our end-to-end referral and evaluation processes, including: - registering new referrals and liaising as required - maintaining data input into our CRM - regular data cleaning of service user records to enhance data quality and integrity - owning and updating Calendly our online booking system - manage our service evaluation process, including sending email reminders to users that have not yet filled in our evaluation forms and providing regular feedback to the team on responses received.. Maintain and develop policies and procedures (data focussed and beyond) to support current and new service innovations· Regularly liaising with clinical trials sites to ensure up to date information about clinical trials running across the UK, and maintaining our internal database accordingly· Reaching out to pharmaceutical companies and other relevant organisations that can help shape and inform our work around clinical trials in particular but also the wider organisational strategy · Acting as administrator for the Clinical Trials Steering Group and other relevant meetings
Support the maintenance and development of innovative data-led products to improve the service we provide to patients: · Support our new Clinical Trials Patient Registry (CTPR), a community of people with blood cancer that are interested in clinical trials in the future, by: - Collating material from across the team to include into our regular newsletter - Coordinating the dissemination of the newsletter - Evaluating the impact of the CTPR in increasing awareness of and enrolment into clinical trials. Collaborate with the Content Lead and digital teams in redevelopment and subsequent maintenance of our Clinical Trials Support Service webpages· Keep up to date with new data-led innovations from other organisations to bring new ideas for service improvement
General Responsibilities:· Support our External Communications Team with digital marketing requirements to help promote the service THINGS WE ALL DO• Promote Blood Cancer UK’s vision, mission and core values • We’re all fundraisers. This is slightly different for all roles, and your team will have fundraising KPIs and objectives we all work to• Attend and assist at Blood Cancer UK events and activities as required (NB this involves evening and weekend work)• Be an effective ambassador for Blood Cancer UK at any activity you attend• All staff are expected to adhere to Blood Cancer UK’s policies and procedures• Do any other reasonable things your manager needs you to do

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Experience using Microsoft applications
  • Experience of SQL and Excel or the ability to learn
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and processes
  • Experience of training system users and troubleshooting issues
  • Understanding of relational database structures
  • Highly organised and thrives in a busy environment with multiple deadlines
  • Comes up with imaginative solutions to business situations and has the capacity to identify alternatives to traditional methods and approaches
  • Builds and maintains good working relationships with colleagues to foster team spirit, commitment to the team and achievement of shared goals
