26 – 30 October 2026 – Engineering Focussed

BAE Systems Submarines are pleased to offer this work experience opportunity in our state-of-the-art Submarines Academy for Skills and Knowledge, Barrow-in-Furness.

The experience will include an introduction to the business, an insight into Engineering roles, a chance to discuss career paths with existing staff and apprentices, employability workshops and practical activities, along with university talks and a mock interview.

Applications to close approximately 8 weeks before the programme begins. However, they may close earlier if high volumes of applications are received – we recommend applying as soon as possible to avoid missing out.

Entry Requirements
You must have achieved or be on track to achieve by August 2028.
5 GCSE A*-C or 9-4 (or equivalent) Including Maths, English & Science or Technical Subject
A minimum of 96 UCAS Tariff Points (240 point old system) (excluding UCAS points gained at AS level) achieved from either:
3 A levels at grade C or above. One subject must be Maths, and one subject must be in Engineering, Science or a Technical subject.
A STEM based L3 Extended BTEC Diploma (which meets the required UCAS points) or equivalent (eg. T-Level)

Qualification requirements

This programme is for those 16 – 18 (years 12 & 13). * You must be in year 12 at time of application, going into year 13 in September, achieving A-levels or equivalent in August 2028.
