Vocational Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Job Description

The role holder will provide essential support to the Standards & Accreditation and the Exams & Assessment teams. Reporting to the Senior Vocational Assessor they will support the development and delivery of all Vocational Assessments delivered by the Technical Institute in Qatar as part of the externally accredited training pipeline.

The role holder will be responsible for the development of new vocational assessments, reviewing and where appropriate amending existing assessments through the continuous improvement process and support the Senior Vocational Assessor with Assessment Internal Quality Assurance (AIQA) activities. They will support the Exams & Assessment Coordinator to ensure the efficient delivery of assessment support to the Vocational Training team, providing advice on the conduct of Vocational Assessments and associated administration in-line with the awarding bodies requirements. Core Duties:

  • Development of Centre Devised Assessments, both theoretical and practical, for:
    – Level 2 City & Guilds Certificate/Diploma in General Engineering covering electrical and mechanical based units.
    – Level 3 City & Guilds Diploma in Military Aircraft Maintenance covering avionic, mechanical and weapons-based units.
  • Maintenance and update of existing assessments following “quality principles” and incorporating any feedback received (e.g. External Quality Audit (EQA) or Internal Quality Audit (IQA)).
  • Ensuring compliance with both internal policies and external Awarding Bodies’ regulations throughout the vocational assessment processes.
  • Ensuring adherence to examination regulations during exam days and ensure proper documentation is maintained in line with awarding bodies requirements.
  • Liaising with a wide range of stakeholders, including Chief Instructors, Vocational Instructors, Quality Assurance, and IT staff as required.
  • Post-Assessment Activities:
    – Initial review of assessment documentation for completeness and correct completion as part of the AIQA process.
    – Analyse examination results and present findings to the Senior Vocational Assessor and Lead IQA.
    – Support the Exams & Assessment Coordinator ensuring all assessment evidence and documentation is archived and available for EQA.
    – Support all EQA preparation and subsequent EQA activity.
  • ​Assist in the development of the organisations understanding of the vocational assessment process by providing training to staff on an ad hoc and regular basis in accordance with identified training needs.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Aerospace Engineering Qualification Level 3 or above
  • Training Qualification at Level 3 or above
  • Recent in-depth experience, delivering and assessing Engineering Vocational Training. (Typically, 3 years’ experience)
  • Experience of developing vocational assessments, both practical and theoretical.
  • Experience/understanding of UK Military Air Legislation including Regulatory Articles, MAM-P & MAM-D.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Internal Quality Audit qualification, and or relevant experience.
  • Experience in training delivery in a Military Environment.
  • Experience of the delivery of training in the Middle East.
  • Familiarity with the principles of Human Factors in the Air Engineering Environment.
