BAE Systems is delighted to partner with one of Australia’s leading recruitment agencies, Randstad, who are recruiting experienced Trade Assistants to join our Piping team for major naval shipbuilding programs in Osborne, SA.

Role Description:

We have a new opportunity for Trade Assistants to join our Destroyer Capability Enhancement Program based at Osborne.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9 day fortnight

You will be responsible for the delivery of the all services that sit within the Trade Assistant role including any high-risk license tasks providing services across the shipyard to successfully deliver the project. The role will require you to support all production work on blocks, ships and support other tasks required in relation to the shipyard

Please note, if successful you will be employed on a casual assignment by Randstad PTY LTD and working on-site at Osborne for BAE Systems.

Core Duties:

• Assisting Trades in a production environment
• Confined space watching and confined space general work
• Spotting where required for E.g. hot work, EWP
• General house keeping
• Using basic hand tools E.g. spanners, grinders, drills, pallet jacks

Essential Skills:

• Demonstrated experience in a similar environment
• Strong safety focus and enhancing the site safety environment.
• Strong time keeping abilities.
• Excellent communication.
• Must be eligible to apply for Australian Defence Security clearance

The Destroyer Capability Enhancement Team

Under the Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) program, Australia’s Hobart class destroyers — HMA Ships Hobart, Brisbane and Sydney — will receive advancements that will boost capability. This includes new state-of-the-art technology, integration of a Tomahawk cruise missile system and an upgraded Aegis combat system.
