Job Title: Technical/Operational Manager

Location: Samlesbury -on site

Salary: £61110+ depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

Acting as a key focal point for the Operations/ Production and In-Service customers, and ensuring that the Materials Engineering teams deliver to plan, and are seen as a reliable, supportive support function

Ensuring that delivery is data-driven and operationally focused

Ensuring that the teams comply to procedures and processes; providing strong leadership on any Quality arisings and ensuring that any issues are closed out robustly, using problem solving techniques and root cause analysis

Ensuring that the teams deliver to the cost budgets, and that work is performed efficiently. Having a continuous improvement mind set and ensuring that the teams are seeking out ways to improve working practices; being strategic in future improvements around equipment, working practices and technology

Providing direct leadership to the Materials Engineering Team Leaders and ensuring that the teams are developed and grown to maximise the well-being of the organisation, and its performance. Also act as the interface between the team leader(s) and the departmental operations manager/ Principal

Your skills and experience:

Essential:

People management and leadership experience of technical/engineering activities

Knowledge and leadership experience of health and safety activity

Demonstrable experience within a delivery role

Ability to manage planned and unplanned emergent work and understand budgets

Experience of working in a fast-paced industry environment

Experience with adherence to a Quality Management System (QMS)

Desirable:

Knowledge of manufacturing/production/engineering processes would be a significant advantage

Aerospace industry experience

The Materials Engineering – Operations team:

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that Materials Engineering activities are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. As a key part of Operations, Materials Engineering plays a crucial role in meeting customer expectations and delivering to plan.

This position requires strategic vision and strong leadership across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People (SQCDP) initiatives. The role spans multiple locations, including Samlesbury, Warton, Coningsby, Brough, various RAF bases, and overseas sites, requiring some travel. The majority of the role will be spent on-site in Samlesbury.

You will lead a highly skilled and knowledgeable team, driving accountability, ownership, and effective leadership to ensure objectives are met on schedule and within budget.
