Job Description

Job Title: Technical Information Engineer

Location: New Malden or Frimley. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: Up to £51,000 dependent on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Generate and update XML and SGML based technical documentation accordingly to allow our customers to operate, maintain, diagnose and repair Combat Systems equipment
  • Review technical documentation for quality and completeness and ensure this is delivered on time to our customers
  • Prepare accompanying delivery documentation for customer deliveries
  • Working within the documentation team and liaising with project teams and engineers to author Data Modules
  • Creating new technical documentation and amending existing technical documentation, ensuring all information is up-to-date and accurate
  • Working closely with engineers to gather information, including design drawings, to fully understand the impact that changes have on technical documentation
  • Interpreting engineering data, and where appropriate, querying data to ensure correct and accurate interpretation.

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Degree qualified in a STEM related discipline or equivalent working experience
  • Previous experience in an Engineering environment
  • Knowledge of technical documentation and/or ILS disciplines
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with stakeholders at various levels

Desirable:

  • Exposure to XML or SGML
  • Experience using RTX Eagle, or PTC Arbortext, or Adobe Framemaker would be an advantage

The Supportability Engineering Team:

You’ll be joining a dedicated team of five highly experienced engineers who collaborate closely to deliver accurate, high-quality technical information. As part of this supportive and knowledgeable group, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from industry experts and progress into a more senior role as your skills develop.

Working under the guidance of the Principal Technical Author, you’ll collaborate with our existing team of Technical Authors and ILS Engineers. Together, you’ll gather and interpret design data, verify technical details, and produce precise XML-based documentation that meets current standards and customer deadlines. This is a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and teamwork are key to success.
