About the OPPORTUNITY –

An exciting opportunity for a Structural Field Engineer to join the Hunter Class Frigate Program based in Osborne, SA. Reporting to the Production Engineering Team Lead working under the Production Engineering Support Manager

This role will see you utilize and develop your engineering skills as you will be responsible for providing engineering advice to enable production and trades within your domain.

We are looking at either degree qualified engineers, a diploma qualification and/or trade certificate to fulfil the requirements of the roles. Experience in one or more of the following domains will be highly desirable:

  • Structural Fabrication and Construction
  • Marine materials including coatings and welding
  • Detailed design & drafting

This role will see you:

  • Review and resolve reported issues and perform technical investigations, root cause analysis and engineering assessments relevant to your domain
  • Liaise with various stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather input on the affected systems and equipment for decision making
  • Provide engineering analysis and recommendations to the Technical Authority to ensure the as-built product meets design intent
  • Provide a link in the communication process between Production and the wider business on the issue management process

About YOU

  • Engineering degree or diploma qualified appropriate to the level of role sought; or
  • Appropriate trades certificates plus production experience
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to focus on specific tasks/issues presented and manage competing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with a variety of stakeholders and ask questions to obtain relevant information for decision making
  • The ability to interpret CAD models, detailed design drawings and technical documents including requirements, fabrication or assembly drawings and Objective Quality Evidence.
  • The ability to use agreed on standards and engineering first principles to resolve engineering problems and issues of a complex nature within domain of expertise
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes in demands and/or tasks
  • Baseline Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
