Strategic Planning Manager

Job Location: This role is based in Adelaide SA.

Role Description:

Reporting to the Operations Manager and serving as a key member of the leadership team, you will be the Subject Matter expert to ensure program take balanced approach with respect to planning activities within scope whilst ensuring the technical integrity associated with their area of expertise is appropriately maintained and appropriately traded off if required.

Core Duties:

  • Be responsible to establish capacity planning within the Business Management System (BMS) and ensure compliance with manufacturing governance requirements
  • Ensure appropriate tools and processes are in place to support effective capacity planning and performance monitoring across the organisation
  • Perform technical spares assessments, including identification, optimisation, and evaluation of special spares.
  • Provide SME support to the Project and Production Planning leaders and practitioners in the effective use of capacity planning and analysis outputs
  • Generate, maintain and deploy a consistent approach to Capacity Planning across Program Plans, Detail & Digital Plans, and Operations Management analysing achievability of ship build plans, manufacturing plans, and build strategy scenarios, across the BU and systems
  • Contribute to the development of Build Strategies by providing data driven solutions that help to improve overall project schedule and cost performance
  • Collaborate across the global business to share and receive best practice from other Manufacturing Operations groups, particularly Naval Ships and Air
  • Build strong engaging relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, maintaining/fostering a positive culture and a culture of ownership and collaboration

About You

  • Extensive experience in a Production detail and Capacity Planning within complex projects preferably in heavy engineering industries with strong exposure in planning processes, systems and tools
  • Strong leadership development skill with an ability to coach and build front line leadership with an ability to communicate and build relationship with people at all levels
  • Demonstrated professional integrity, interpersonal effectiveness and emotional intelligence, enabling positive influence and collaboration across functions
  • Relevant Trade qualification with extensive experience working in an engineering or manufacturing environment and mobilising new site/program is essential
  • Demonstrated understanding of Engineering, Supply Chain and operations requirements and processes
