Job Description:
As a Skilled Mechanical Fitter / Assembler, you’ll support the manufacture and assembly of world‑class aircraft platforms including Typhoon, US Programmes and FalconWorks. Working across the production lifecycle -from detail manufacture through to major assembly – you’ll carry out precision mechanical tasks within a highly regulated aerospace environment.
These opportunities are available across 2026 and 2027. Flexibility to work shift patterns is essential.
Core duties:
- Carrying out mechanical fitting, assembly, removal and inspection activities in line with engineering instructions
- Working to engineering drawings, specifications and quality standards to achieve close tolerances
- Using approved aerospace fitting techniques, tooling and measuring equipment
- Diagnosing and rectifying faults and defects
- Maintaining compliance with Health & Safety, Tool Control and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) requirements
Essential Skills:
Applicants must hold both of the following and be able to provide evidence:
- An Advanced Apprenticeship (minimum Level 3) in a mechanical discipline
- A Level 3 or above Vocational Qualification in a mechanical subject (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds)
Military service records will be accepted where qualifications were gained during Armed Forces service.
In addition, you’ll have:
- Proven mechanical fitting experience within aerospace or a closely related industry
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, standards and specifications
- Experience using calibrated tools, precision measuring equipment and regulated fastener systems
- Understanding of Tool Control, tool calibration and FOD procedures
- A strong awareness of safe systems of work, including mechanical isolation, confined spaces and working at height
The Air Sector Manufacturing Team:
Embedded within Air Sector Manufacturing, you’ll play an integral part in delivering high‑quality mechanical outputs that underpin programme performance. You’ll work to defined standards and approved methods, placing strong emphasis on safety, quality and consistency, while contributing to continuous improvement at shop‑floor level. The role sits within a fast‑moving and evolving area, providing opportunities to influence ways of working, strengthen operational discipline and build broad experience across Air Sector operations.
