About the OPPORTUNITY

We have a new opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer – Engineering Change, to partner with our Maritime Sustainment business, working on the newest ship platform, the Hobart Class DDG naval ships. Reporting to the Engineering Change Lead, you will be employed on a permanent full time basis and will be situated in either Osborne, Adelaide or Garden Island (Potts Point), Sydney location.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, including working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee and manage the system engineering integration activities
  • Champion the systems engineering and engineering change processes and the interfaces from the various project teams, ensuring effective completion of activities
  • Participate and contribute to engineering forums and the platform systems interface working group
  • Work closely with the project teams, ensuring the engineering documentation is fit for purpose to support the implementation of the systems into the ship platform
  • Support the development and upkeep of the systems engineering management plan
  • Establish good relationships with various stakeholders, communicating the status of the system engineering integration activities along with system maturity, risk and progress
  • Capture the impact of the engineering changes through analysis, reporting and active risk management

About YOU

  • Extensive systems engineering experience or extensive maritime/defence technical experience – Experience in other engineering disciplines will also be considered
  • A good understanding of systems engineering practices, the ability to interpret technical documentation and the ability to write technical documents
  • Resiliency, attention to detail, good communication and customer stakeholder management skills
  • Whilst not essential, defence industry technical experience or skills in engineering configuration management, will be highly regarded
