Role Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Power and Propulsion Engineer to join the Hunter Class Frigate Program (HCFP). Reporting to the Propulsion & Electrical Engineering Manager, you will be employed on a permanent and full time basis.

Core Duties:

  • Lead and manage a power and propulsion engineering team, coach and develop personnel, ensuring services provided meet business objectives
  • Provide technical direction, planning input and guidance to the team
  • Act as the technical lead on power and propulsion systems and undertake own technical tasks in the engineering domain
  • Support the delivery of the program, collaborate effectively with suppliers, internal and external stakeholders, establishing good relationships
  • Perform analyses of power and propulsion engineering issues, and provide recommended solutions
  • Track and assist the engineering team in the delivery of engineering change requests and engineering change tasks
  • Support the team to maintain owned areas of the Power and Propulsion system risk register

Essential Skills:

  • Power and propulsion engineering experience, and extensive engineering experience
  • A relevant tertiary engineering degree
  • People leadership experience with an ability to manage a team and provide effective leadership, direction and motivation
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and develop effective working relationships with the engineering team, and with internal and external stakeholders
  • Self-starter and good self-management skills, analytical, the ability to investigate and resolve engineering technical issues
  • Whilst not essential, naval ship or maritime industry engineering experience, will be highly regarded
