About the OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechatronics Engineer to join our Periscope In Service Support program, reporting to the Project Manager. You will be employed on a permanent and full time basis and can be situated either at Mawson Lakes, Adelaide or Rockingham, Perth locations.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, including working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.

BAE Systems Australia is the incumbent Periscope In Service Support provider to the Commonwealth, leveraged off of 30 years of continuous support to the Royal Australian Navy Collins Class Periscope Systems. The BAE Systems Engineering team provides engineering support inclusive of engineering governance, design authority, obsolescence management, technical support to the maintenance teams, along with liaising with the Periscope OEM engagement for technical queries & support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform a range of mechatronics engineering activities
  • Generate engineering requests for deviation for alternative components to replace obsolete components on the Periscope program
  • Generate requests for engineering services to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to resolve technical issues on the Periscope equipment
  • Produce technical instructions to assist with the Technicians’ understanding of assembly and testing requirements for the periscope equipment
  • Analyse the Periscope Health Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) data to determine the root cause of Periscope system faults
  • Act as a point of contact and provide technical leadership and engineering technical advice to Maintenance Technicians on the Periscope equipment
  • Collaborate effectively with customers, internal and external stakeholders, maintaining a positive culture within the Periscope program

About YOU

  • Extensive mechatronics engineering experience – Engineers with electronics engineering or mechanical engineering experience will also be considered
  • Relevant tertiary engineering degree
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Self-motivation, attention to details and good problem solving skills
