Location: Scotstoun, Hybrid – 2/3 days per week on site – Potential international travel to Canada

Job Description:

The River Class Destroyer (RCD) programme is Canada’s largest defence procurement, delivering up to 15 advanced vessels for the Royal Canadian Navy. BAE Systems – Naval Ships is the warship designer, working collaboratively with Irving Shipbuilding Inc. on the design and manufacture of the fleet. As a Senior Commercial Officer, you will play a key role in managing contractual activities across our international agreements, ensuring high‑quality commercial support throughout the programme. You’ll work as an integral member of the RCD project team, partnering closely with colleagues to meet operational needs and contribute to the success of this major national endeavour.

Core duties:

  • You will be co-ordinating and managing commercial/contractual activities on the RCD programme
  • Providing contractual guidance / instructions to the project team and other stakeholders regarding RCD contracts
  • You will be providing commercial interpretation of the RCD contract where necessary
  • Generating and managing RCD contract change proposals in accordance with BAE Systems commercial and corporate governance (e.g. LCM and RBA)

Essential Skills:

  • Good knowledge of various contractual including pricing principles and an ability to understand and interpret contract and legal issues
  • Knowledge of different sorts of commercial agreements (e.g. Confidentiality Agreements, Teaming Agreements, Technical Assistance Agreements, Software Licences etc)
  • An ability to develop commercial / contractual solutions to solve issues

The River Class Destroyer (RCD) programme is Canada’s No1 Defence programme and demands a collaborative team to work towards a common goal.
