Location: Great Baddow – 3 days a week onsite minimum

Role Description:

A senior Radar Systems In-Service Support Engineer responsible for sustaining the operation, reliability, and obsolescence management of deployed naval radar equipment.

You will be supporting complex electro-mechanical components to maintain effective radar functionality and cross-system interoperability within an In-Service environment. You will leverage broad hardware, software and system technical knowledge, practical experience, and established engineering processes, methodologies and governance.

Ideally drawing from product support, development, or manufacturing backgrounds, your role will involve effective problem-solving across varied engineering scenarios while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and operational continuity.

Core Duties:

  • Apply a breadth of knowledge, skills and experience of Systems Engineering, techniques and governance to resolve engineering issues enabling the sustained operation and maintenance of naval radar equipment, compiling technical reports and accompanying presentations as required
  • Undertake engineering and fault investigations, providing resolutions, across a wide range of legacy electrical and mechanical radar sub-systems and system interfaces
  • Undertake engineering liaison with partner, supplier, equipment OEMs, and customer stakeholders articulating and addressing technical queries and issues
  • Technical reviews of engineering reports and documentation in accordance with business, legislative and customer requirements
  • Undertake technical feasibility studies and estimates for radar In‑Service Support activities

Essential Skills:

  • Broad engineering background, with a good understanding of electro-mechanical / electronic components, hardware / software interaction, system technical knowledge and processes
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering (e.g. ISO 15288) within an In-Service Support environment, particularly in context of operational, maintenance, and logistics principles
  • Experience of providing remote support to complex systems and equipment that is being used in a deployed operational environment, engaging with customer and end user stakeholders as necessary
  • Higher education (or equivalent experience) in a relevant Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) discipline

We are a small, responsive team with a strong, supportive culture, delivering In-Service Support for complex naval radar systems in an operational environment. Our work presents varied challenges, supporting advanced military radar under long-term commitments to our customers and end users. You will work within a close-knit, multi-disciplinary team, focused on sustaining deployed systems while contributing to the evolution of current and next-generation radar capabilities to meet emerging threats.
