We also sustain Australia’s F35 fleet and support maintenance across the Asia-Pacific, contributing to the world-leading, multinational F35 program.

About the OPPORTUNITY

BAE Systems has a vacancy for a Quality Specialist in Williamtown, NSW, to join the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet program on a permanent full-time basis, reporting to the F-35 Safety & Quality Manager. In this role, you’ll drive Quality Management System governance, ensure customer and business requirements are met, and deliver key reporting and metrics. As a functional-level position within the Quality Function team, you may be deployed across F-35 projects as needed.

We’re seeking candidates with a strong quality background, skilled in practical application and implementation of quality management systems. You’ll shape consistent processes, sustainable solutions, and high-impact collaboration while enjoying flexible work options including a 9-day fortnight.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee and maintain project Quality Management System ensuring compliance with customer and contractual requirements.
  • Execute internal audits, report findings and manage Corrective Action Requests to closure.
  • Investigate non-conformances using Root Cause Analysis, 5 Whys, ICAM, and other quality tools.
  • Refine processes, embed quality practices, support continuous improvement.
  • Conduct Bowtie Health Checks / report deficiencies to support governance.
  • Act as the primary Quality contact for the AVSS project and assist in refining non-conformance, quarantine, and disposition processes.
  • Support supplier assessments, liaise with external stakeholders (DCMA, DASA, CoA, LM), and contribute to reporting metrics (PPRP, QSR, customer deliverables).
  • Occasionally support other Aerospace or Quality programs with independent quality activities.

About YOU

Essential for the candidate to have;

  • Deep understanding and direct practical application of Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience and examples in quality management and assurance to ISO9001.
  • Qualification and experience in Root Cause Analysis methodology.
  • Support of QMS certification audits (e.g. TQCSI).

Preferred for the candidate to have;

  • Practical application of Quality Management System standard (AS9110).
  • Practical application and deep knowledge of Atlassian products (JIRA, Confluence) and Microsoft Products (Excel).
  • Experience in applying process audition principles.
  • Working knowledge of Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASRs)
  • Diploma of Quality Auditing or Lead Auditor Qualification.
