About the OPPORTUNITY

Ready to lead impactful projects on a global stage? Join our Strategic Surveillance HF Exports (formally HFS) program at Edinburgh Parks, SA or our Melbourne CBD Office!

We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and skilled Project Manager to help drive mission-critical projects for our international customers, including the US Government, US Airforce, US Navy, and Defence Intelligence Agency. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a high-visibility role where your leadership will directly shape the success of some of the world’s most innovative and groundbreaking solutions for our customers.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will lead multiple cross-functional teams across a matrixed environment—bringing together technical experts, support functions, and stakeholders to deliver complex projects with precision and agility. You’ll be challenged to navigate diverse contract models and international delivery frameworks, with support and mentorship to help you grow your strategic and commercial acumen.

Your ability to apply core Project Management principles—balancing cost, schedule, and quality—will be key to driving successful outcomes and maintaining strong, trust-based relationships with our global customers.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivery of straightforward to complicated projects or a collection of discrete tasks with defined scope and of sufficient scale to require the application of project management disciplines
  • Foster a positive collaborative culture between the key project stakeholders and the project team including the customer, sub-contractors and suppliers
  • Lead the project team to ensure timely activity, integration and efficient use of time and resources to meet requirements
  • Ensure all project requirements and/ or objectives are properly documented in a business case and/or project brief, as appropriate and vigorously pursued
  • Establish appropriate key success indicators and recommend trade-offs between scope, quality, time and cost
  • Maintenance of project management baseline
  • Identify project opportunities and risks and develop mitigation strategies for pursuit throughout contract phases. Monitor and report on the status of risks and opportunities
  • Ensure that products and services delivered as part of a project are in accordance with the Product Safety Policy and provide customer satisfaction
  • Deputise for the Senior Project Manager as required, including at Customer and Senior Stakeholder Engagements.

About YOU

  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management (desirable but not essential)
  • Demonstrated experience in project management on significant programs
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft office suite of programs
  • Current NV1 defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
