Role Description:

Thus Project Controller role supports the Senior Project Controller in maintaining the integrity and transparency of financial data to facilitate planning and decision making for the project. The position also supports the proper use of the company Earned Value Management (EVM) System so that the project management team can adequately monitor and report on project cost, schedule progress and risk status

Core Duties:

  • Report on Project Performance using Financial and Earned Value Management Metrics.
  • Produce Earned Value Management reports and obtain variance analysis in conjunction with Control Account Managers.
  • Integrate Schedule data (Initial Baseline and subsequent Changes) into the Earned Value Reporting tool and maintain the budget baselines for reporting.
  • Maintain and periodically update the model for Australian Contract Expenditure (ACE)
  • Maintenance of the project ledger in conjunction with the project finance group
  • Maintain and generate Oracle booking codes for the project team and assist with Oracle queries from the project
  • Provide detailed, accurate and relevant reporting and commentary by the specified deadlines on forecasts, budget and cash flow to:
    • The project team
    • Central finance group
    • Commonwealth of Australia
  • Compliance to corporate guidelines, policies and procedures as well as accounting standards and legislation
  • Improve processes used to calculate accurate, timely and efficient reporting of the financial results for the project (e.g. streamline month-end process)

Essential Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in Project Controlling or Project Accounting
  • High attention to detail in data capture and manipulation.
  • Ability to interact effectively with colleagues within and outside their immediate team, to implement business requirements
  • Well-developed self-management skills and demonstrated ability to work under their own initiative to deliver outputs to time, quality and cost
  • Ability to use good written and verbal communication skills is important to this role, along with high literacy and numeracy skills
  • Intermediate MS Office skills, especially in Excel and PowerPoint, with exposure to Oracle ERP desirable
  • Chartered Accountant or Certified Practising Accountant preferred but not required
